I have read so much on this site over the last couple weeks and learned so much that i want to give somthing back. Here is a tip for some of you.
Last summer I made a couple hundred $ by selling furniture on amazon using the pictures on walmarts website and just ordering the item from walmart when they sold. Shipping is sooo cheap from wally-world!
I sold some beds for a 150% mark up and the people were happy!

I used to do this as well. Walmart to Amazon is a great setup. There were some products where I had a 100% markup and I was still the lowest price on Amazon. Stay away from electronics (or any niche where Amazon has competitive prices) and this is a gold mine. I did mostly toys and home goods (lampshades, etc) when I did this.

Nah, responding that way to this guy's post was probably the dumbest idea you've had.

There are a lot of areas where this actually works. You just have to do a little research.

This works with several companies. Years ago I did the same with eBay. I bought on one countries eBay and then sold with another account on another countries eBay.

Years ago nobody knew to check or actually didn't even know eBay had more than one site. So the method banked for many years.

I think it is awesome when you spend the time to find a source that everyone knows about, buy a product and sell it on another source everyone knows about.

This is basic economics and it is exactly how companies fill their bank accounts on a daily basis.

All you need to do is state it is brand new and still in the original box when you bought it.

Or what some do when they have a product they know that sells, they order it and repackage it, having it ready to be shipped from their home when purchased. This method costs you a little more since you will be paying for shipping unless you can support a small price increase to cover the cost.

A third option is some companies actually offer blind or company shipping.

Blind shipping is usually a plain box just with a packing slip that is basic. Company shipping is where it is shipped looking like it came directly from your company or you personally if you set it up that way.

When I did this I just entered the buyer's address into the Walmart shipping address form. They will get it in Walmart packaging with a Walmart receipt but they won't notice. They will expect an item from Amazon and in their mind they will have received one. I never got a complaint about the fact I was blatantly dropshipping from Walmart.

I usually chose something that would be really expensive to ship like a bed or sofa. If you do your research you can find big products that walmart will ship for between .99 and $15. most people on amazon have no problem paying way more for shipping ($50) so you mark up the product and the shipping. I tried to have a bed sent to my house and reship it because i was worried about the receipt; but when I went to have it shipped it was going to cost over $120 to ship (UPS, FedX and USPS were more). I still have that one in my basement. All the others I just entered the buyers address into shipping section on wallmart and used my address as the billing address. And I sent a gift reciept. If anyone asks (only one person did) I just say that I am selling excess inventory for Walmart (it is true).

Just don't mention that it is from Walmart. If you want to be extra careful rename the product. Some people may Google the name to see if they can find it cheaper elsewhere. One note: you can't (well I can't, some of you may know how) copy and paste an image from Walmart. I had to take a picture with my phone off the website and use that.

Never did I say it was wrong or bad to use Wal-mart. I owned a dropshipping business on e-Bay a few years ago and was moderately successful. Doing things like this is always about the profit margin, and selling in bulk. When you can get an actual dropshipping company to send stuff out for you, then you can have huge profit margins. Otherwise, the best you can do is find lower prices on other sites and get maybe 5-10% markup. This might turn into a few dollar of profit per sale, but if you are smart you can make good money doing this.

Hey buddy, several times I sold beds that cost $70 + $15 shipping for $225 free shipping (that is over 150%). I did not sell 100s of these but I did make some $. I just posted this on here to give back a bit. If you don't like it or if you think I am dumb or whatever just don't read my post.

I never said you were dumb. I may have thrown in some sarcastic banter and referred to your idea as dumb. However, I never insult people and apologize if it came across that way.

Personally, I just find it highly unlikely that you were able to sell at the margin you say you did. Maybe I'm wrong, but that is my opinion.

I was wondering if you put gift on checkout, does the payment address show up in the invoice.

Checked out the Amazon program and they want anywhere from 10-15% "Referral" fee charged to the Seller...that is a huge amount considering you want to pick up some margin on the deal.

Am I reading their referral charges right?

I used to do this kind of selling one. But unfortunately the site that i used was quickly out of stock otherwise i would make a killing.
