You should use some software like Market Samurai or Traffic Travis to analyze competition. And please use search function, there are tons of tutorials and blueprint!

Google Adwords is a good place to learn the basics of keyword research but it can be mis-leading; especially if you don't know which parameters to use.

I recommend going to the market samurai homepage and watching the video series there. Although they are all directed towards the software itself you will learn a huge amount about keyword research and how important it is. From the lessons learned you will have a better idea how to identify profitable keywords in the Google KW tool. Hope this helps.

Google adwords indicate the competition for the advertisers, it's nothing to do with the competition of the keyword. To rank a keyword you need to look at the pages (sites) that are ranking on the top for it (usualy the top 3) and this pages are the competitors you need to focus on. To check for their strenght you can use Market Samurai or Trafic Travis like already said above.

I've been using scrapebox for a while now and im hooked, only thing i havent been able to analyze fully is how well it performs in regards to the SERP.

Because the competition rating is for advertisers not publishers. Its a good place to check for local monthly searches as well as keyword ideas - but the competition rating is irrelevant for what you are trying to do

Ah I see.
Aways thought google keywords was good.... the more you know.
Im getting traffic travis the free version and ganna play around with some keywords.
