Most rappers don't do the music,as well as a ton of other things. Theres a huge production team behind an album that doesn't get much credit as they should

I'm from Jersey. From a time when rap was new and fun and real. Most of the stuff today really stinks. I like Lil Wayne's music (when I'm bored) but it's probably because I try to keep with the times (I have teens). Best alive in my opinion (in no order):
Andre 3000
Fabolous
Jay-Z
Nas
Common
Jadakiss
Mos Def
Some of these other guys are so dayum wick wick WHACK when going freestyle it's embarrassing. Nas tore a new a-hole in Jay-Z when he decided to attack him lyrically. YCMB can't touch any of these guys on the freestyle. Nicki Minaj is getting a bit annoying and boring. Ever notice how she makes those Rue Paul faces? Kids these days just don't know how much she steals from those who came before her. ANYWHO! Very entertaining thread.
BTW, I do enjoy Drake but he can't make this list. I've never even heard him do a decent freestyle. He's an actor for crying out loud! LOL. He does a very good job at pretending to be hard so I do purchase his albums.

Cali rap always has and always will stink in my book. LOL. I enjoy Ice Cube and 2Pac. The Game is good too but too violent IMO. Snoop Dog needs to be euthanised (lyrically). Dr Dre is way out of the game... The other guys? I can smell them all the way over here on the east coast they reek so badly! LOL.
(I live in Atlanta where the rappers suck almost as much as Cali rappers. Missing Jersey...)

I used to listen to more rap/hip hop than I do now but....
First off- honest to God, Lil Wayne isn't in the top 50 best 'wrappers' as you put it.
I am not sure who is the best, but here are some of the best:
-Mos Def
-Method Man
-Nas
-Kyza
-Slick Rick
-Klashnekoff (Sagas of... One of my favourite albums of all time)
-Jurassic 5- as a whole.
There should be more names up there, but off the top of my head I cant think of anymore... Also I see Jay Z mentioned, surely he cant be seen as the best- lyrically he is very poor BUT importantly he's a shrewd businessman and knows how to sell music- so I respect that.
