This is a nice script. The only problem I see with it is the footprints visible to networks. The part of the magic behind CLP lies in its use of postbacks. However, that means that you have to tell your affiliate network what domain the script is installed on. Once they know the domain, it's pretty easy to see that you have CLP installed and you are probably locking your offers. The network can look at the source HTML of the CLP pages as well as search for directories that are common with CLP installs.

What would be nice is a script that users could install on another domain (let's call it the handler domain), which would forward the postbacks from the handler domain, to your CLP domain. That way, you could just give the handler domain to the networks for them to send the postbacks to. The network would never know about your CLP domain and never suspect that you might be content locking.

To be honest, this is something I had noticed too. I guess, it doesn't matter when using incentivized offers though.

Hostgator works fine with CLP still. There's no reason for HG to suspend accounts with CLP installed, it's just a script.

What reason did they give you for suspension? The most likely story (as you're on a shared account) is you were using up too many resources.

This is why we recommend you install CLP on a "tracking" domain rather than a site you want to content lock. This way the network will see what looks like a tracking script installed.

A savvy affiliate manager could probably still figure it out, but that's a risk you have to run if you want to use postback AND non-incent offers. If you use timer and non-incent offers you'll be safer (no footprint).

Obviously if you're just running incent offers then this issue doesn't apply so for the vast majority of users this isn't an issue.
