I personally use an IMACRO extension and loop it over and over. It works well. I unfollowed 5000 people in about 10 minutes.

Tweet Attacks has a free demo version you can grab from their website that will do the job for you. Just click unfollow once a day as the free version wont automate every day.

Also it randomly delays each unfollow to minimise risk of being banned.
