Getting a wordpress site ranked

How do you get a wordpress site ranked on the home page, when the content on the first page is constantly changing.

I don't know what's your problem with ranking your wordpress site but I personally just update my site with content and my pages appears in the results almost instantly. Homepage on the other hand is better off when searching for my main keywords.

Right, but how do you optimize your homepage for your main keyword when the content is changing

just remember to keep the main keywords you would like to target on the main page that it would not jump too much certainly keeping a few paragraph the same will be good enough

You could use a sticky post so you know your keywords will always be there.

^^^^^^This, sticky one of your posts or create a page and sticky that to the front of the site.

I personally prefer using a post, you have your main post stuck to the top and then constantly rotating content under it to keep the bots happy.
