Why? Why do you hate Android? Why would you tie yourself to one type of phone, just because it's Apple? I have a rooted S2 and at the moment wouldn't swap it for anything. My boss has an iPhone 4s and wishes she'd bought an S2...

Because unfortunately, Android phones lack greatly in the user experience. I am no Apple fanboy, but one thing they are able to do, is make a user friendly, simple, and low-bug phone that has a great hardware / software integration.

So far Android is very lacking in the user interface / hardware integration part. They do have the angle where you can customize and really unleash the potential of your phone perfected more so than Apple, but at the current time Apple is still the best from A to B phone that is on the market. Their warranty is fantastic as well, not perfect, but better than mailing in a phone and dealing with the warranty process. And their phones are pretty reliable.

It shouldn't be a surprise, they focus all their efforts into one phone, not several like other manufacturers.
