Number 1 in Google.com, Page 3 on Google.com.ph

My main keyword is number 1 in google.com. However, it's on page 3 for google.com.ph (my country). My keyword is country-specific. While I'm getting a lot of traffic from google.com, I figure that I'm missing out on a lot of opportunity from google.com.ph since the people who'll be searching for my keyword are Filipinos.

First of all, why is this happening? Second of all, how can I increase my rankings on a country-specific keyword? I'm thinking of building links using the keyword "Philippines". Will this work? Any other ideas?

It's a .com. The keyword is a city in the Philippines.

1. It's hosted on Hostgator. I guess it's based in the US.
2. I do have a couple of backlinks from a forum for Filipinos and a site that's a little similar to it. I've also started backlinking using "Philippines" as the keyword.

I have my site in first page for my country but it dances from page 1 to 2 every now and then at google.com.
I would propose that you do backlinking with sites having extension .ph to improve your ranking.

the problem is there are only a few choice of local hosts (not resellers) here and they are not as efficient as their foreign counterpart yet they are as expensive.

if I want to increase the chances of local searches finding my keyword/domain..then the best way is using a local/country domain name like "ph" etc ..

I'm sorry but I don't really get what you're trying to say. I understand "paano mo" but I don't understand what you're trying to say. You mean to say I post in Tagalog?
