Just got this email from MS:

I just want to let you know that Market Samurai is now alive and well, thanks to some very late nights, and the loyal support of our users.

The response to our last blog post has been amazing! In just a few days we've received over 500 comments from people offering their encouragement as we worked to revive Market Samurai.

And for that, we want to say Thank You!

There have also been a number of questions raised, which we've answered http://marketsamurai.com/c/WereBack.

The blog post covers:

  • What's working in Market Samurai?
  • Will Market Samurai become a monthly subscription product?
  • Will Rank Tracker have a monthly cost, and what will it be?
  • Can I use Rank Tracker on my local network?
  • Where does Market Samurai now use Bing data?
  • Is Bing a valid measure of competition? Aren't I trying to rank in Google?
  • Why are other SEO products not affected?
  • Will Market Samurai be offline for six months?
  • We've got 400,000 users, why can't we just absorb the cost?

Thank you again for your support, and we remain committed to making Market Samurai the best Internet Marketing investment you can make.

Warm regards,

I'm glad to see that keyword reswearch is still done with Google. I use rank tracking in TT only.

any alternative for market samurai?? I feel tired with MS, when google have update, it usually wont work

It is working for me as long as I check all my sites one by one.

Too bad that the search depth is now capped at 100.

I use both Market Samurai and Keyword Optimizer Pro. On the days when the former doesn't work, I use the latter (which is free, by the way).

Market Samurai is still okay guys, they are just fetching some of the data from Bing (not the important one) so it doesn't really matter ;)

Try Traffic Travis.

If you're looking for something better for tracking and analyzing your website rankings, Advanced Web Ranking have a good tool.

Yeah I've heard a number of reports that it isn't displaying results properly still - I'm sticking with Traffic Travis

MS is a dying horse....I'm pretty pissed as I bought the software
right as things turned downhill for the worst. The only benefit I
really ever gained was a little tax writeoff, otherwise that's about it.

Let me give you an example, I was using MS to track rankings across
several different projects. One day I load up MS after using it for roughly
~2 months on these projects to find that my MS file(s) have been corrupted.
For absolutely no good reason what so ever. I emailed support, to be told that
MS was never designed to check rankings consistently. What a joke. Essentially
I was told that this was an add-on feature, and wasn't all the reliable for long
term results and corruption could happen with "larger" files.

That's only a small insight into MS. Unless you want buggy software, look elsewhere.

A monthly charge for Rank Tracking.. Market Samurai, fuck you! I actually bought this software even though it was available in the DL section. I feel quite fooled. Especially since MS has not been running great for quite some time.

That's disgusting, just goes to show how poorly designed MS really is.

Here's a quote from the blog post that was linked to in this thread

"As mentioned in the previous post, initial estimates put the purchase cost of our daily data requirements at $40,000 per day, a cost that we?re unable to absorb. So our intention is to buy ranking data from a reliable wholesale supplier and make it available on a subscription basis through the application."

If your costs are $40,000 per day to run ranking checks, you are doing
it wrong. Sure, maybe there was 400k purchases of MS but you can
bet that there aren't even 1/2 the users that are currently using it on
a daily basis. Hell, I'd be willing to bet that there's less than 1% daily
usage of the app.

The only reason that I will not be using it anymore is because of the fact that they switched most of their modules over to Bing. That is straight up gay.

ive gone to MicroSiteMasters for tracking but its a pain to loose all the historic graphs like that. Plus thats an extra recurring payment on my list :(

Is the keyword research side of MS still ok though? i havnt needed to use it for a while and im wondering.

With all these problems I am glad it didn't try MS. From experience TT is very effective and if high rolling clients are floating about SEOMoz does the trick.

Anyone been using Traffic Travis for a while? I just downloaded the trial and so far it looks okay. I miss MS though (used it daily) and I'm a bit gunshy about TT. If MS can loose access to google PR and rankings, I'm thinking it's just a matter of time before TT goes down and I would rather not waste 100 bucks for a weeks worth of ranking data.

Got blocked from google on my first test run. Uploaded some of my proxies and seems to be working well now.

Would love to hear from anyone using TT regularly as an SEO company.

Thanks,

I also bought MS just before things started going downhill. I will still use it, but for straight up keyword research UNF from Clyde is the way to go!

I also got that email about MS being back but still doesn't work for me. Fired up MNF and same thing. Both my kwd tools not working :(

MS's rank tracker still is a miss .. It has been for a couple of months now. It's a good thing they want to charge monthly for it now [FAIL]

There are so many alternative of market samurai available but still this news is good that it has been working.
