Does Wordpress hurt your rankings?

Wordpress is SEO friendly and Google loves wordpress so how does it effect your ranking.

Google loves Wordpress because its an uncomplicated system, it produces easy to read web pages and because they are easy to read, they rank well...Plain and simple.

It's because it's being pinged when you make a post, WP has rpc.pingomatic setup by default, this happens to most blogs who have an ounce of trust.

I already done that. I use custom template and a wordpress category doesn't rank well, even if i add a unique article and i do noot show posts excerpts at all. Post ourank them pretty quickly.

It looks like category pages, no matter what content they have, are by default in google algo marked as bad pages.

But the problem is that even home pages on blog (just unique article - no post shown) have similar problem.

My categories and homepages rank brilliantly, do you have unique, descriptive title and description tags and natural content (check your keyword density for accidental stuffing and over optimisation). I show custom excerpts on the home page and the category pages, along with a few paragraphs of original content.

Posts and pages are generated by the user.
"G" prefers content over an internal "filing system"

Only link to category pages if you are using stuff like Link Farm Evolution and have generated your own categories on 3rd party WPMU sites or similar.
On your own link to POSTS.

Finally (for those who need telling) if you use an automated bookmarking tool and bookmark "category" or "tag" pages YOUR BOOKMARKS PROBABLY WON'T STICK AND YOUR ACCOUNTS WILL LIKELY GET BANNED. (at least by the "big boys")

Serach engines aren't stupid - The people that own them often are.. but the algorothm's know the difference between proper content and internal website filing system machanisms like categories and tags.
While you can link to categories - it is no where near as effective as linking to posts and pages.

But what is way to solve this problem?
For both category and homepage.

I agree that you would probably get banned from a bookmarking site if you links to a category page - but only if you do not have any real info on the category page, that isn't present anywhere else on the site.

Should i use just posts for content i need to get ranked. Lets say i have category called: "bmw cars" and i inside i have various models of bmw.

If i wish to rank for term BMW should i create separate page ?This page would have all info regarding BMW cars. And i would probably include links at the bottom of the page to various bmw models i have reviewed.

wordpress is the best thing & html, joomla all those are heavy while wp is light. wp is the one serps love. don't get confused. search for a keyword or affiliate product term, & you'll see 80% of sites are wp.

Out of the box WP does not support:

• Custom page titles (can be done with plugins)
• Meta description & keywords
• Permalinks like /category/ and /category/post/ (can be done with plugin but u have to modify plugin for best result)
• Any advanced stuff
• Permalinks are not very flexible. Can be configured with plugins but having permalinks like /postname/ affects performance because WP is designed by drunk kindergarten kids.

I completely disagree on the permalinks, they are incredibly flexiblw and you can do "/category/post/" You go under settings, then custom permalinks, you can have it however you like, even with the date, time and month in the URL!

(For anyone who wants to do this the code is: "/%category%/%postname%/")

No plugins are needed for the permalinks.
