[Method] What's the logic behind this ?

I had stalked one of my main competitor for a while now, and notice that one pattern he has is mass SB blasting to all the sub-domains he own.

He create 10~20 sub-domains on the root domains he own, then blast all the sub-domains hard with different keywords ( for example - loseweight.xxx.com for loseweight and so on ), never really blast root domain for once. It works pretty good for him I would say, since he owns half of the first page on some KWs.

Just wondering what is the logic behind this ? Just to boost the BL count on the same page ? or maybe something else ? Anyone ?

His subdomains must be linkd with main site, so its like creating backlinks for backlinks i guess

Does his subdomain(s) redirect to his home page or other pages
Does he have content on the subdomain.

Yes, both his main domain and sub-domain ranks for the keywords that he is blasting, even his main kw and sub-domain kw are totally unreleated, but still he ranks the main kw good.

He sub does not redirect to his home or other page.
He has relevant content on his sub domain which is related to his sub-domain

Both sub and his main ranks, keep in mind that they are totally unrelated kws, and he rank his main domain kws like it's nothing. He holds 5 spot out of 10 on the first page, all different root domain, all same method.

Sub domain helps protecting root domain from getting slapped by Panda. For example, Squidoo is affected by Panda while Hubpage is not.

Yes, this one is for sure. And he spam the same source like 10x times, since he got so many different sub-domains..

He only links his sub to his main, no main to sub. So protection nest in this case ?
