For about 3 months my site dropped big time in Google rankings, which means a drop of 10k unique Google hits a day!

I made some front page changes and I was building links before the drop occurred, so I thought it was just a Google dance. I kept continue building links like I did before till now.

I have experiences with a Google dance drop of 1 month and 2 months, but not with 3 months+.

Before the drop my site was found for some big real high competitive main keywords and a lot of long tail keywords. Now my site only gets 2k - 3k SE hits a day, which is yahoo/bing, but also still some hits from Google. Before I had total 12k - 13k Google hits a day.

Anyone have similar experiences of a Google dance of 3 months, or maybe I'm punished because of my link building/changing the front page?

Impossible to say without knowing more about the site. Could be still dancing, could be pandalized, could be whatever.

Ok, but maybe someone had a similar experience...

I had a similar experience mate.

Just focus on building as much as high authority backlinks..

Even if you had to pay a lot of money, just get them! After that you'll "remove the Google doubt" and they'll appreciate your website more, and hopefully rank you even higher..

did the change involve moving ads above the fold or add more ads?

40k traffic/day , can you say what type of site it is?

Maybe just be a little more patient and it'll come out of the penalty box eventually?

As mentioned high contextual pr links are the way to go for you mate

My initial questions would be:

1. How big is your site? Could there be duplicate content issues?
2. Do you have unique meta descriptions/keywords for each page or is every page the same?
3. Do you have a heavily spammy link profile from the past (scrapebox, xurumer, etc.)?
4. Is it a "directory" type site or an e-commerce site?

These are a few of the issues Google seems to be catching up with and punishing.
