I have searched this forum and others for the 'best' tools for a newbie. I found several threads but all of them are primarily concerned with price. They are also for people without a website (or a brand new website) and not so much for an establish site.

It's been awhile since I've done SEO and just getting back into it. Things certainly have changed.....

My question: What is the best set of tools for a newbie? I am performing SEO on a few websites for "regular" corporations. I haven't seen anything too pricey to scare me away (Xrumer is fine), but my concern is time/effort. I'd like to minimize the number of tools I'm using (and learning) while keeping tight control of content, links, etc.

From my research, it looks like a safe bet to purchase SeNuke and Xrumer along with a bunch of 3rd-party tools (TBS, Private/dedicated proxies, captcha solvers, copyscape, etc.).

I understand most/all of the current SEO terms, tatics, strategies, etc. and I've got lots of programming/server admin experience. I also have access to dozens of servers across several data centers - not sure if I can or should leverage them.

OMG! My first post in this forum. :D Thanks to all of those who already provided great info to this massive resource.

Hey there-I'd be careful with the automated tools (SEnuke and Xrummer) unless you are really familiar with them. You might create a test website to test and learn with these types of tools=there is a learning curve for sure. Diff. tools do diff. things, so what is it you're after? You might research about how to leverage tool like majestic seo, scrapebox and AMR for the seo work you will be doing. Happy learning!

Punch-ur-Soul many software have a trial as well (eg SeNuke) why don't you create a website and then get a trial?

The title of this thread sounds like "SHOW ME THE SHORTCUT TO SUCCESS".

lol

I'd recommend these for starters:

Scrapebox (does so many things so very well for so low a price)
Tweet Attacks (best tool for twitter management)
Captcha Sniper (will save you a lot of money breaking captchas)
TBS
Zenno Poster (gives you a lot of control)

xrumer, yeah, maybe...senuke, not so sure, I've heard very mixed things about version X quality. I'm also just not so sure you want to go xrumerring or senuking "regular" corporation's sites...

Good list from gregstereo here.

I've used everything including SEnuke and Xrumer. SEnuke IMO is a huge waste of money as it sucks. You're better off outsourcing.

Xrumer can be powerful, but it doesn't really fit with what I do any more. It's too hit and miss and you can't really use it for clients either.
