Wild Google Swings Going On Now

Just a heads up for everyone, I've noticed some extremely wild swings the last 3 days on several searches.

Probably the best example is on "Acai Berry". All of the top searches have been getting mixed up but most notably is Oprah who has had a page from her website ranked in the top 10 for years.

3 days ago she suddenly went to page 2 for several hours before bouncing back to page 1. Yesterday she was on page 3 for several hours before bouncing back to page 1. Today she is on page 5.

Dunno if Google is testing something new out or what but I've seen multiple jumps like this on several different searches so it may be something to keep an eye on.

Rather, he and his team are penalizing Websites that put what they deem an "excessive" amount of ads up top, or simply make it hard to find content on the page.

Would be useful to know how the fuck they define "excessive" in this context...

Its bullshit. I had two sites slapped hard with one google ad aligned left and the content to the right side by side though both were at the top. Hardly excessive in any way but the slap killed most of my keywords, and I mean lots.

Gotta stop complaining but this Google fight is getting tiring...

yes not just last 3 days about last 10 days this is going on and affecting my 2 sites both were up there for 2 years now they are nowhere

Also other sites who were at top for 1 listing now they have two or more listings on page 1

I think it's even more complicated than that. They tell you to put ads above the fold!
I get emails all the time telling me to add more ad units, place them where readers can see them, etc.

Im glad someone else noticed this too. A couple of my sites and videos have been moving around what seems like hourly.

I've been having crazy stuff happening to my sites too. One of my sites jumped to #1 for like 3 minutes, then went back to #4.

Seems like Google has gone bi-polar this month. I'm not even going to check my rank for a while and focus on other ventures.

That's because the search team and the AdSense team are separate units, with different objectives. The search team is concerned with ranking the "best" sites, while the AdSense team is concerned with driving the most revenue, and as such they have quotas to meet.

My site took a dive because of all the link trades i have in the damn footer that have been there for years. Now they are bitching about ads above the fold, I guess i'll put the effen ads where the links were in the footer and see if that makes em happy lol...
