New fake pr method - pr is being displayed as valid

It is a new method to display valid prs but actually they are fake. So be aware

Came across this method accidentally with a dropped domain I purchased.
Was a PR0, 301'd to my money site for a day or two, and decided to just reproduce the old content.
Removed the 301 and reinstated the old site, and 2 months later has a pr1.

I think it has something to do with the dropped domain. As he said, he tried with an established site, and it didn't work.

I wouldn't go that far. He did reference this BHW thread.
It has been discussed here before, but still nobody quite understands how the pr is maintained.

So far,. no one has been able to figure out how they are able to do this ( i mean if someone had figured out, s/he has not disclosed publicly )

This is not a 301 redirect as the cached page is the actual domain page.
This is something else.

301 is definitely involved. As I stated in a post above, I did it successfully with a PR0 dropped domain, which is now PR1.
Cache shows the current domain, not the one that it was redirected to.
