In my opinion you are not creative twisting methods. Creativity is important for IM, you need to have your own methods to generate income, your own skills to drive traffics and monetizing its. For the past 7 years, what other thing you have done to make money? only adsense?

You just need to find that red string from the yarn ball, this is my second year i guess and i used first year to study various concept around IM, now at second year i took action at the end of summer and made a site with ~4 pages of self written information and backlinking. It took air under the wings and i started a second site on crhistmas holiday, 4 self written articles on it and it has already done me few bucks Well i have gained my hosting back that's for sure.

I'm making good ~$700 monthly now from 1 site + partially with second site.... I'm now gonna scale this as much as possible so i can invest on other things (offline stuff) cause i'm having a huntch that google is going for the worse for us. After my second site gets $10/day i'm going to set up 3rd site

It is easy really... Making money is extremely easy!

Things you need to check out:
1. What is your exact search ammount for your keywords?
2. Your rankings
3. This forum for backlinking methods

That was my number one peeve as well. Yoiu are big compnaies beck and call and when they slap you get hit and have to start over again. What's the point?

I made over $20k some monrths way back...made over $150k some years....i was successful. But I always knew it was built on quick sand. My friend who started an offline bizz at the same time started slower and steadier. Guess what? I am back to square one his business is growing and growing. We have swapped roles. I wish I had put my efforts into something off the Net instead now. Which is what I am in the process of doing.

To be fair most people get sucked into the guru B*S*. Sellnig crap affilaited ebooks and thikning if you get to the top of G. you are going to be a millionaire. It's so saturated, so short term I couldn't do it again knowing what I know now.

You should EASILY be able to hit $100 a day after 2 years, and if you're not you're doing something seriously wrong.

It sounds like link building is the weak point in your system. Despite what the gurus will tell you, link building is king. Article distribution and directory submissions won't get you far these days. I'd also assume that your niche sucks in that it is either not profitable or simply too hard to rank for you. You haven't mentioned how many unique visitors you're getting across these sites to make the $10/day. How many uniques are you getting?

From what you have said, I also believe that your ranking are not necessarily as high as it should.

LinkBuilding should takes a bigger places. Did you focus on long tailed queries toward your niche ?

Moreover, how many clicks do you get a day ? what is your CTR ? Maybe there is something wrong there too.

Don't rely on Adsense.It's not worth it.Have multiple sources of revenue.I don't think quitting is an valid option.

Creating own physical products is a good idea. Make sure you get a good patent on the idea, sel lto distributors etc I can see that being a really good way to make money....more of aprocess but much more secure and could get big.

I wiuldn't bother with software/ebooks/offline SEO at all. You have no controll over it. Any one can copy/clone/rip/pirate too easily.

To be honest I totally understand OP.

I have been trying to learn and understand IM for a long time (few years) and tried few methods. From what you all are saying I should be making a lot by that time, but I'm not. I think I understand IM, how to find hungry market etc.

As many of you guys I also started with adsense... made about 10-20 sites (+ bought few sites from some of those so-called micro niche sites creators that guaranteed everything) and only 1 website (made by me - not bought) made me money. I mean like $600 - $1000 in a year. It was only thanks to the luck I had that Google indexed my image on the first result page so I had a lot of traffic. For many other sites I had like 1st - 6th place and only little traffic and almost no $.

Plus adsense is changing rapidly so I said to myself -enough of it, I can't lose all my time trying to keep up with new adsense changes.

I have 3 other methods currently on my mind I'd like to try.

1. My own software product - working on that currently.
2. Other kind of product - well... not being english native makes here a great problem :/
3. One of the youtube + content locker methods... yeah but I have many questions in my head because of that (paid/free content locker? proxy/no proxy? one/many YT accounts....... ).

I think that the biggest problem is no experience. Because when you try something - problems are getting from day 1 and you know next time what you will have to deal with.

But there are also other problems. Well, you must have money to make money. Even some small initial amount. But if You're trying for few years without success then you can count hosting+domains+autoresponder for 1-2 years? Pretty much...

That's why after some years all we have is 0 $ in our pocket and no business made. One guy told me that if you want to success... you have to be a bastard, find your method, and never share it. I understand it but... shame we all can't be success.

sounds like you're paying everybody to do stuff that you could easily do better yourself with a little hard work, and then can't understand why it's not being done right. Also Adsense will always f over your profits after awhile. Switch for a bit and maybe test it out later to see if it doesn't rise at least a little bit. I've made $500 in 1 day, then $1 the next with same amount/type of traffic. Them adjusting for "faulty" clicks but then still pocketing the money already paid by the advertisers.

Maybe it isn't for you, because the only wish I have is that I'd started earlier, I only started IM in early 2010, but I have a web development history going back to around 1999, and boyyyyy I wish I'd started IM back then!

hotelscombined.com is only 7 years old
Twitter is 6 years old
Groupon is just over 3 years old
Fiverr is 2 years old
Instagram is only 15 months old

I do regular internet marketing, but if I ever have an amazing idea like these sites, I will definitely roll with it!

Dude, you're just doing it wrong, and I think 2 points in your strategy don't work:
KEYWORD RESEARCH:
If the keyword is too hard to rank, don't waste your time on it. If it's easy but doesn't bring in traffic, don't waste your time on it! Find profitable(+rankable) keywords!!

Second: Backlinking/Monitizing. The guy you're hiring for backlinking clearly sucks, or you have enough traffic but fail to monitize. Be sure that you're keywords are monitizable.

For example: you have 2000 Uv/day with the keyword, let's say, ''math homework''
These kids are not going to click your ads, they are looking for help with there homework. Then you maybe should place a content locker before the math homework help section.

You see? It's not about ''not being good into IM'', youre just doing it wrong!

Now get your ass back to your sites and make some god damn money

Other than this what else would you guys do different?

This is what I do:

1.Get a domain
2. Hire a writer to write 2 - 3 daily unique articles (using wordpress with all in one seo plugins).
3. Pay another guy for Marketing (daily link building, article distribution, directory submissions).
4. Monetize (using adsense, nofollow aff links)

Thats what I do, but between paying the writer, marketer and the hosting I am spending over 200+ bucks a month and a site like this usually makes me only about a buck a day.

So what you guys think, what am I doing wrong??

I theory with that many quality articles, seo and marketing my traffic should grow and I should be able to make good money, but people dont click on any of my ads and I am spending more than what I make.

Some people just aren't cut out for business. That's the reality.

Creating sites with unique content and adsense on them is only 5% of the puzzle. It tells us absolutely nothing about why they fail.

You can't just create any old site. It's like me saying:

I bought a big shop, had it renovated and decorated to look amazing, hired staff to run the shop, advertised that my shop's open for business, but I'm not making any sales.

Creating any old site with unique content is just a "lucky dip". If you can't pick profitable niches then create sites that are going to convert then you won't succeed.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, all that matters in marketing is your ability to sell. SEO, methods and all that bullshit are useless if you aren't good at MARKETING. The only people that make money online are the ones who know how to market and sell.

If you can't do that then business isn't for you and you need to just get a job in an area where you have other talents.




Also, I see many people talking about how IM has gotten harder. What's happened is there's no longer a bunch of "easy methods" where you can just make a few posts on craigslist, put up a crappy adsense page or spam myspace to make a quick buck. Marketing now is like real business, and only the real business people will succeed. It isn't hard to make money online, it's still much easier to make money online than offline, but gone are the days of the mcdonalds burger flipper making $1k/day from a method he found on bhw.

If you can rank sites and write landing pages that convert, you're going to make upwards of $10k/mo.

Dear god, you're advising someone who clearly has no clue about business to go into offline consulting? The industry is bad enough as it is. Everyone who fails online resorts to running some sort of offline consulting biz. God help the company who take him on to manage their online rep.
