Is profile link is useful ? i think its harmful!

If I were a search engineer ,i will think its spam!

not much useful now
use blog comments and article links

useful for indexing, that is all really, no real juice when it comes to backlinking.

low quality comments are just the same really.

only high PR high quality meaningful comments are any good

Dude, this is honestly the 100th thread about this. Use the search option.

It's a pretty simple formula. Like any other website backlink, The quality of the forum is what matters. Lower quality links bring little, or no juice.

the profile links themselves are mostly useless unless indexed. Google usually ignores profile pages

You have absoloutely no idea what you're talking about...

Well that is the general consensus at the SENuke forums, and I tend to find their opinions spot on. They can be useful, but you usually have to put them in RSS feeds or link them elsewhere so that Google indexes them and they become valuable. Otherwise Google really just doesn't acknowledge it.

...That's the case with ANY link. If you don't build the quality of the forum profile itself, why would you benefit from it? It's a deep page with no links.

Forum profiles are like any other webpage, if you have 100 PR0 links that are only indexed... What do you expect to come of them? You aren't leeching any PR from the forum itself, so even if it's PR5, your profile is still PR0.

You aren't building any links to it, except for no PR RSS links. So where is the PR coming from to make this forum profile a quality page to get a link from?

Forum profiles are entirely controllable by you as far as content and outbound link density. How is that useless? Blog comments are (not only nofollow) saturated with shit links and content all around you, you have no control over what the POST says or what links are in it. You can fill a forum profile with SEO content about your keyword and DF anchor link out.

How is that useless?

If you utilize them correctly, I think you'll see a difference in the quality of your links.

You are misunderstanding me, the profiles themselves can be great. I've generated tons with SENuke and have bought quite a few services that generated some for me. But Google has updated it's algorithm to give less importance to forum profiles. They aren't as valuable as they once were. However, it does seem to be a controversial subject and they may still hold more weight then I give them credit for. I definitely don't exclude them from my SEO strategy. They've just taken a backseat so to speak

As far i feel profile links are good, but go for relative niche backlinks for best results.
I have also heard many peoples says profile links are not good few says they work for them.
