As far as women on this forum, there are two kinds: newbs and grinders.

I guess it was only a matter of time before a thread like this surfaced, considering the number of guys on here who make sexist remarks and start flirting as soon as they see a post from someone they think is a woman (I say that because I believe that half the usernames which appear "girly" are actually set up by blokes thinking they'll get more help - as LBrown said, most women who are genuinely interested in IM tend not to advertise their gender)

I don't think it's right, but it's a statistical fact that certain industries are still extremely male orientated, Nascar was an example which someone brought up in one of the posts in this thread, and I guess IM, and possibly business in general, lean significantly towards males as well.

However, I don't think they're as one sided as some people seem to think (business and IM, not Nascar), I would say it's probably about a 70-30 split or maybe 65-35 (no evidence to back that up, just a general opinion). This is a huge shift from say 50 years ago, and an even bigger shift from 100 years ago, when the split of businessmen to businesswomen was probably more like 95-5, in many cultures it was almost frowned upon for a woman to run a business, and in most cultures the business would have lost integrity if a woman was in charge. Fortunately, times have changed and so have people's opinions (most of us at least).

To the guy who said it was all down to evolution - what kind of evolution could possibly make a man better at IM than a woman? If anything, women tend to be more organised and better at planning for the future than men (I did say "tend to", I'm not saying that's the same with all women/men), and since equal opportunities acts etc came in and education was made equal for both genders, women learn exactly the same stuff as men.

There are certain jobs where evolution does play a part in the gender divide - unless there's a significant shift in the evolutionary pattern, men will always be naturally better equiped to play physical sports such as boxing, rugby and American Football. That's the only area I can think of where evolution plays a part.

And before you say it, I am not one of the "white knight manginas", I only posted this because mindsets like yours are what sets the human race back 100 years.

of the evolution has very different abilities, obligations and place in society from men.

Men were obligated to hunt and bring food, build homes, tools and boats.
Fight and protect the family. Men has always been the head of the family and bring all the decisions, except in matriarchal period.
Men were obligated to think where to move, where to establish a village, where they will find all the resources, animals, food.

Women were obligated to take care of the children and raze them properly to be brave warriors and hunters.
Women had to make clothes and wash them, cook food, or collect natural resources found close to the caves or villages in different ages of evolution.

From a physical aspect, men have a much more developed body and muscular structure than women.
Man carry more genes about leadership and establishment than women.
But women are smart as equally as men.
Some studies show that women are smarter, more organised and careful, they are the piece keepers of mens wild spirit.

The new age of evolution brings new types of women. Strong characteristics.
Intelligent with leadership abilities. Self sustaining and know how to care for them self.

But the thing is, men have always been explorers, they always wanted to find something new.
Even from the earliest ages, men explored land, sea and sky because of curiosity, progress, adrenaline.
Men discovered ships, islands, land, discovered ways to transport, how to fly, industrial age...

Women don't carry such genes. They don't wanna take risks, they wanna walk smooth and steady towards any kind of development.
They are not as curious as men in discovering new elements in the world.
They want to enjoy life peacefully, settle down, have a family and raze children.
This has been going for thousands of years during evolution.

The guy had a point with his post. We don't know what the future beholds but so far this has been going on.
Calling him an idiot without any arguments against is so disappointing.
You should read more in order to be able to bring more arguments next time.
