Alright here it is:

Make a blog/information site about a topic BEFORE its popular.

Explanation:

Google is all about what people are searching for. With that being said, every keyword follows trends. For example, the keyword barack obama will get lots of hits because obama is popular. However, think about in 10,20,30 years, much less people will be searching his name in google. Likewise, lets think about the future. Right now everything is focusing on this 2012 election and its candidates. All the candidates names are very popular search terms and anyone who is ranking high for those terms is getting loads of traffic. Now lets fast forward to the 2014 presidential election. No one is talking about it BUT eventually they will when 2013 and 2014 rolls right. NOW is the time when you want to start building a website for the 2014 elections. Why? Because there is no competition and when it comes to SEO its generally the early bird gets the worm. Why is this so? Because the early birds get the best domains, they rank high early on and they build authority for the site. When the keyword starts getting loads of traffic you'll be sitting there right at the top of the serp getting boat loads of traffic. Any latecomers will have a hard time going up against you.

Other easy examples:
Upcoming movies
Upcoming tv shows
Anything upcoming that will eventually be popular

Try and focus on finding a term that has the potential to be popular for a long time. For example, a tv show will run for a couple months and there is the chance that the tv show will get renewed for more seasons. Once you find a suitable keyword buy the domain with the keyword in there and start building the site. Also focus on the long tail keywords, lots of traffic there too. Once you've built a nice little blog focus on doing continual seo and updating every now and then. Rinse and repeat the process.

I think most people fail at blogging because they build blogs where the keywords are too competitive. These days its all about finding a good niche that you can get on early.

Amen brother, and i'm not even american, but i get the idea, i recently started doing this with facebook pages, that way i could gain a huge amount of fans on them organically, i've done it with a few tv shows that are huge in the US but only just started here in the UK but knowing they will succeed means you can built regional fan pages for them as well

Yup, that's a good idea as well. The whole idea is to constantly be on the lookout for the, "next big thing." Some of them are easy to spot like upcoming tv shows or movies but others aren't so easy I call those ones wildcard trends. A good example is the term, "rebecca black." In 2010 the term got little to no traffic. In 2011, it went through the roof.

go to Magazines... and look for new products that are interesting.
Products that bought ADS on several magazines.

Become an affiliate of them.
Make a quick blog with product name EMD
Cash in on people looking for info.

One more twist.... become an affiliate of their competitor...
then do review of both products.... with affiliate links of course.

Throw in a third popular product but write a negative review..
like "too hard to use" "more complicated than it needs to be " or whatever.

That's worked for me in the past with my generic blogging for clients. A great example was the 2012 thing. Certain topics had not come up in it yet. I made several posts for him dealing with things I knew (as a sustainable living writer..amongst other topics) people would hit on eventually. I earned him a lot of money doing that just with the knowledge of the topic and what would eventually become popular.

Yup, those are great ideas too. You'll want to have a hybrid site that sells has affiliate/commission sales as well as advertising.

My kids love lego games on the xbox and when I read the rumours that Lego had bought the Lord of the Rings license I took a gamble on it being true and bought a few relevant domains. The fact they hadn't already been taken made me think it was just rumour but sure enough Lego have announced a whole heap of Lego Hobbit and LOTR stuff would be out in the summer and should be really popular. According to Keyword tool it's already getting to be a popular search term with low competition so fingers crossed on making a profitable amazon affiliate site.

Did you make sure to include as many copyrighted terms in the domain name, ie. LordofTheRingsLegoMicrosoftXboxGame dot com?
