Best Tablet for $$$ Kindle Fire?Nook?Other?

As the title says I am looking for the best Tablet for my money. I am looking to stay below $300 or even $250. What are your thoughts? I need to use it for reading, email, websurfing etc.

I got my wife the nook color for christmas and rooted it with cyanogen mod.

For the money, you really cant do much better.

Blackberry playbook is also dropping in price hard. Very underrated tablet, unfortunately very little native apps but it also runs android apps.

Been wondering about this as well. The wife has been pesting for a tablet. Was looking at the Kindle Fire($200), Acer Iconia($260), and one from HTC ($300)

I think the Acer Iconia could be the best one for that price, but it's recommended to invest a bit more to get a better one, rather than repenting later.

I've got the kindle fire and absolutely love it - so far. Runs quick, Running/loading ebooks is easy - I just send .mobi files to [email protected] -- and they automatically appear in my documents for reading.. Lots of great apps - biggest downside is that you can't access Android Market - can only use Amazon market and some apps I like aren't there- but I made a backup on my android phone and sent them to the kindle via a wireless explorer app.

I love my Samsung galaxy but it's not in your price range. If you're signed up with amazon prime I would go with the fire.

I have the Nook Simple Touch for reading and i can only recommend an e-ink display if you are planning to read a lot of books (like 1+ a month).

Browsing the web is possible too, but with a normal tablet it is way more comfortable.

I've looked at a few, just feel safer with something in which I may actually have help if something goes wrong. I'm leaning towards the KindleFire at this point.

Make sure you play with both the fire and nook color before making a decision. I found that the nook color was much more responsive to touch, and noticed a considerable lag with the fire when scrolling through books.
