How does a content lock affect ranking?

My question is 2 fold, firstly does having a content lock on your site affect your ranking for terms? Secondly, if so, would it be better to place my content lock on a secondary page as opposed to my root domain as I have currently?

Lastly, I've fetched my page as Google bot via the webmaster tools and all appears well but I'm pretty sure my rankings have dropped though it is a very new domain and I could be having a quick dance.

Would it be the best move then to move the lock to a secondary page while trying to rank the root domain and then using a link between the 2?

I would have thought that it would make no difference to the spiders. Guess it's time to re-think that and figure out how they are flagging it.

I have Content Lockers on my page, just make sure it isn't on a page people land on when they click through from Google. If you make it click through from a banner on your page or an AD, it doesn't seem to matter. I haven't been deindexed ever.

I have a blogpost which is ranking #1 on google. I put content lock pro on there and no harm was done. I removed the locker after a week though, so maybe the time was to short for google to notice...

I was just thinking on doing that and it's good I found this thread.

You can easily cloak (via minified JS) content to spiders because they can't interpret that particular piece of JS. All it takes is to attach a script that loads the content unlocker via encrypted JS code.
