How would he be screwing over a client? Will the client's site get a slap? Will it be penalized or banned?

Think about it this way, you're the cleaning maid to a rich guy. He's away on a business trip, but somehow he forgot the TV on. You're cleaning the room and you see it's on a cable channel you don't have, and an interesting show is on. Do you stop for a little bit to watch? If you do, will the owner get hurt in any way? Would it be stealing from him? He's already paying for it and he's not there to enjoy it at the time.

Again, it amazes me how many people preach ethics and morals, yet I'd be willing to bet most of you have your computers full of pirated software. Which IS stealing, as opposed to the issue at hand.

I do see your point and I agree with it, in part. However, using the Facebook account would entail a risk of people unfriending our guy because of spamming shit services. I don't see how inserting links into someone else's site has any risks attached to it, for the site owner.

I recommend asking him for a small footer link, and knock a few bucks off your SEO service. Then spread the footer link to your websites on different pages of his website, depending on the page's ranking and stuff.

I dont know or really care if Karma exists, but next time the same guy becomes to the buyers end, the seller would be doing the same for him. Not because of the karma, because that is what he deserves.

If someone had posted a method for getting unlimited AdWords vouchers, create unlimited AdWords accounts and being able to promote the same sites with all, everyone would be cheering. Yet THAT is theft, no matter how you put it. You steal from a REAL company. Yet in this very case, where no stealing is being done and no real harm can come out of say the method I suggested, you all get your panties in a bunch and get all butthurt screaming bloody murder! :laugh:

We don't abide by the rules of the game and abuse them to eat our competition's lunch. When doing blackhat SEO we play dirty, thus STEALING the rankings we probably wouldn't get otherwise. Or at the very least not as fast. All this, and many other blackhat practices cause REAL harm to people and companies, in terms of diminished profits.

Yet here we are, debating whether someone should funnel some linkjuice from a site which he has control of, which would do ZERO harm to the site owner. He wouldn't lose PR, rankings or business. How's THAT any worse than all the shit you all are pulling?!?!

If I create a quality Web 2.0 blog, filled with original content, strictly for the purposes of linking that site to my own money site to flow pagerank and increasing my serp rank, THAT is blackhat seo. I provide quality content which benefits readers, and benefit myself as well. Who am I stealing from?

If he posts a link from his CLIENTS website to his OWN website, he is giving up link juice that could be spread to his own other sites, and he will be pushing his own site higher in the ranks, and since they are targeting the same products, he will be taking sales away from his client. We don't know everything about how Google treats outbound links, but we know enough to say that it would probably negatively effect his site rankings, even if slightly.

But besides all of that, he is abusing the relationship and trust given by the client to add something to that site that he has no permission to do. If I blast comments to some guys blog, it may hurt his site, but he is inviting comments openly from the community. I am not doing it with negative intentions toward his site, and my comments are very generic in nature which could actually HELP him because Google will see more active discussion on the site. The site owner may also believe its a genuine comment and be inspired to keep working harder.
