And to people who are saying that it was all innocent. Come on now. Everything is innocent for a kid this young. The things that happen to them at that age will shape their lives.

What if the girl found it innocently amusing and decided to try what she did on TV again, with some stranger that she comes in contact with, like a neighbor, male babysitter etc. That is how sick stories that you read in the newspaper begin.

Right, so because a man gives a girl a peck she's going to start kissing random men in the street? O_O

Family give young kids kisses all the time, it doesn't mean those kids start kissing random strangers.

Since when did a peck become such a bad thing? It's just a way of showing love/affection. Do we really want a world where people are paranoid about showing any affection towards kids for fear of being labelled a pedo?

As I've said before, society was very different back then, and even more different in the 50's. Being a pedophile didn't come into anyone's head so people just acted naturally and lovingly towards kids.

It's like plane crashes. Statistically they're ultra-rare, but because they're sensationalised people start to fear it and become paranoid about it.

It's the same with pedophiles. They're ultra-rare, but they're sensationalised in the media and it causes panic, fear and paranoia. The reality is 99.999% of people are not kiddie fiddlers.

Kids are more in danger from bullying in school, having no future because of the state of the economy, losing parents with the high divorce rates or any number of hazards in the modern world, yet you don't see anyone here attempting to do anything about it, do you?

The reality is that this video as evidence of sexual intent would be laughed out of any court by a judge in the US or Canada. Fortunately the court system is still very very good.

The danger comes from vigilante groups taking action into their own hands and committing acts of violence on this man even though by law he is innocent. The law exists for a reason and it generally does a very good job of identifying the guilty and protecting the innocent.

People in Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries still kiss each other on the forehead when they meet.. Even if they're meeting you for the first time and even if they're doing that with a kid.. Does that mean all of them are gay/pedophiles?

The world wasn't so judgemental back then than it is now.. Since sex is everywhere and we cannot escape it.. When we see a girl wearing mini skirts and clothes like that we think that she's a slut even when she's not and she just likes to wear such clothes..

We start judging a guy who doesn't go out with girls and think that he might be gay when the truth could be that maybe he had a really bad experience with relationships

Please! Stop judging and stop thinking negatively about everything you see!

You don't really believe that, do you? Just goes to show the intelligence of the people I am speaking with here. Julian Assange was simply the face of WikiLeaks. The information and finances to actually make WikiLeaks a reality came from many different sources.

Well before you think about my inteligence you don't have a fucking clue about my background and mental levels.

I have met him personally in 2005 and have seen his work and talked to him about his ideas and way of life.

So since you are talking about Assumptions here I say you should not assume someone's mental levels before even meeting him/her. Just because you have many stars on your profile that does not mean you have golden balls.

Rest I refuse to argue with you anymore.

You missed my point exactly. Yes, families give their kids kisses all the time. And yes, it doesn't mean that the kid is going to go around kissing everyone. But, in a kid's mind, she or he knows that parents love them and kiss them to express their love. When a stranger does it, they will not be able to associate the meaning of the kiss.

They might just think it is a cool or fun thing to do with anyone. And, there might be people who might be willing to take advantage of things like that. I hope you see where I am going with this. Anyways, I guess everyone has their opinion.

None of the stuff you just said makes any sense in relation to the original topic?

  1. People kiss each other on the forehead in arab countries? great. Do people go around forcing and manipulating younger girls to kiss them? If not, what does that have to do with anything.
  2. The world wasn?t so judgmental back then? So therefore pedophilia and predators didn?t exist?
  3. Whether or not his intentions were pedophilic, it was wrong and inappropriate behavior towards very young girls.

Maybe a 3-4 year old, but certainly not an 11 year old. Not even a 7 year old.

Kids are not dumb. My friend's daughter is 7 and she greets me with a kiss and has done since she was 4, but she doesn't go around kissing random strangers.

3-4 year old kids also aren't exactly running around the streets by themselves. 11 year old kids are, but if you think 11 year old girls are going to run around kissing random men because some game show host gives them a peck on tv then you really don't know much about kids. The only adults 11 year old girls would want to kiss are people like justin bieber or similar boy bands.

The most disturbing element is that he was able to do it on national television.

Yep, you're right. Social awareness about sexual abuse is a horrible thing. poor pedophiles being persecuted for stuff that is merely innocent.

That is *NOT* what I'm saying and you know it. Twisting my words like that is pretty nasty.

I said people are paranoid about pedophiles and consequently start accusing people of being a pedo for the most innocent of things. People are getting accused just for smiling at kids for goodness sake.

This man is NOT a pedophile. *NO* court in the land would sentence him for pecking girls on tv.

Innocent until proven guilty, or was that for 2011?

.... and that the parents didn't do anything.... and that there are people on this forum defending it....

No, I'm sticking with the justice system. Find a judge who'll disagree with me and I'll wire you $10k. Seriously, you wouldn't. The only people who think this guy needs to be "tortured" are part of a "witch hunt".

Im not doing any twisting, that?s pretty much what you were saying. People are paranoid about pedophiles? I would hope fucking so. You think people should be ?laid back? with this sort of topic?

Yes, technically what he did would not constitute him as being a pedophile. However, it would be more than enough for any level headed person to be cautious around him especially with their children.

What he did to the girls was harassing. It was unwanted advances towards young girls. If his intentions were innocent and he did not gain any joy from doing so he would have stopped when they expressed verbally or physically that they were uncomfortable with his actions, which they did and he did not.

I respect your view point. I guess our difference of opinion is just a cultural gap that will probably never close. And, it is true. I don't know a lot about kids as I have never been around any for too long. But, from what I have noticed, they can be very impressionable.

You say your daughter's friend kisses you to greet you. Does she kiss you on the lips or the cheek? Just hypothetically, let us assume that she used to kiss you on the cheek to greet you. If she one day suddenly kissed you on the lips, wouldn't it make you feel even a little uncomfortable? I think it would. I am guessing the girls in the video were never kissed by anyone other than parents and relatives before they came to the TV show. I am just saying that they shouldn't have experienced a kiss from a stranger on a public TV show and then gone back to a world where no strangers are going to kiss them.

And, I never said kids run around on the street. But, they do come in contact with strangers in their environment. Some people are very affectionate with kids and it can go over the top. I think I feel very strongly about this because I know of a personal situation where this almost got out of hand. It involved a security guard and a kid in the residence community that I live in. Here in India, people don't kiss to greet others but the guy did that to a 8-9 year old kid. The girl was upset and told her parents and they found out about it. But, if she had been on some TV show where some decent looking TB guy might have kissed here in front of amused people, she might have thought it was normal and let the security guard do whatever he had in mind. I don't think it would have ended well.

Don't you guys think it is interesting that Hundreds of Crew Members, Thousands of Audience Members, Thousands of Cast Members, and Millions of Home Viewers didn't have a problem with the actions of the host, and it was seen as a fun cheesy show good for a cheap laugh for the whole family to enjoy, and NOW 25-30~ years later YOU happen to discover the "truth" behind his "evil" actions?

And just as BlueTurtle said, you guys are seriously misunderstanding the mental and social awareness of an 11 year old. The 11 year olds were not meant to ENJOY the kiss from the host, they were supposed to reject him and make him look a bit silly. It was just supposed to ease the tension by getting everyone laughing and giggling. You never know how someone will react on live television, so hosts can do some strange things to try to get a reaction from contestants.

Imagine if the contestants just sat their and gave boring answers with no personality. That doesn't make for good TV. But by giving them a quick kiss, it livens them up and brings out their personalities. You remember where the YouTube video showed someone calling him a "Dirty Old Man"? That was part of the gag! As someone said way earlier, it was a "Piss Take".

You hope people are paranoid about pedos? What kind of society would that be?

There's more murderers, so let's all be paranoid about murders too, and while we're at it we'll be paranoid that everyone's out to steal from us, or rape us.

Let's just all treat each other with utter contempt. We'll assume that we're all murderers, rapists, pedos and thieves until proven guilty. That sounds like a good society eh.

And stop implying I'm defending pedos. This man is not a convicted pedophile. I repeat, he is NOT a convicted pedophile. No court has convicted this man, nor have any charges even been brought up against him. So how can I be defending a pedo?

Bring me some evidence he was sexually abusing these kids and I'll gladly admit he should be locked up, but until then there is NO hard evidence whatsoever that he is a pedophile. You cannot convict somebody based on what you perceive to be their intent on an edited video.

That's just so ridiculous it's unbelievable. Thank God you're not in charge of the country otherwise you'd have half of us locked up.

And just as BlueTurtle said, you guys are seriously misunderstanding the mental and social awareness of an 11 year old.

This is a bit of a contradictory statement because you are assuming that 11 year olds are mature enough to understand what is going on in the show. The people who don't like this are assuming that they are not mature enough. In the end, both groups of people don't really know how the girl will react to such an event. It is not for us to interpret as we just can't do it. So, what do we do? We apply the rule book. As per my understanding, <18 is a minor age in most countries. That is a number that just doesn't apply to legal cases of rape, sexual abuse etc. It should also be a number that should make actions like the TV host's questionable, if not uncalled for.

Oh god, this is the people we are wasting our time arguing with?

rakoom2002 thinks the host is a pervert who should cause "any level headed person to be cautious around him especially with their children", and yet he finds it quite entertaining to watch 6 year old girls prance around in skimpy outfits behaving sexually and offering to "Holla", which is a slang term which can suggest prostituting themselves, for $1.00.

How is that video "funny", yet this host is "the devil reincarnated"?

What "event"? It's a little peck in front of the girls mother for goodness sake. Get it in proportion. You think some girl is going to be scarred for life because she gets a peck from a game show host in front of her mother?

This is just getting silly, and this thread is going nowhere. We are not a court and anyone who's thinking of murdering, raping or torturing this man for what's in the video needs to be locked up and treated by trained professionals ASAP.

Thank god you're not in charge or pedophiles, murderers, and thieves would be running around. "Oh you would like a restraining order on your ex boyfriend because he has exhibited aggressive behavior and threatened you? Well thats too bad, he hasnt murdered anyone yet, so you're out of luck".
