Does website hosting matteR?

When making a website and doing seo, does it actually matter if i use a free host like blogger or WordPress or something like squidlense? or should i get a domain so i can setup WordPress plugins ect... Also if i use sub domains can i rank high for those with my keyword or is it better to have it as the full domain?

A normal website will not get to the first page for a competitive term either. You can rank a blogger page, and the fact that Google owns it, makes it in their interest to consider it. In addition, I've seen blogspot subdomains rank.

The only reason a paid host is better is for authority in the eyes of the consumer. Which site would you believe is authoritative? The choice is obvious.

That's not true at all. I've seen Web2.0 blogs rank quite well.

Web hosting matters. But your content and SEO will matter more than the platform you're using. My blogger with a unique url shows up on the first page of Google in the top 3 spots for several of my keywords.

Although Google says there is no advantage to using blogger over wordpress I don't see how there wouldn't be an advantage...

according to google .com .net. org. .info are all the same I read it on there blogs
it just happen that .com is mostly people do click and yes having your own domains matters!
and having webhosting is advantage

The reason why you may not see them rank for competitive terms is not because they can't be ranked. It's because having your own site, on your own hosting, is an advantage from a whole slew of other points of view. So people don't bother ranking them by backlinking and whatnot. But that doesn't say that they're harder to rank.

I agree. Blogger websites can rank very well. As for the authority thing, you can always change the template with a custom one and buy a domain name to make it all look professional as hell.
I have blogger blogs that look even better then most wordpress blogs I own.
