My website is fairly new-less than 2 months. I suddenly found 613 spammy sites linked to it. I did a bit of forum posting but no where close to that number!
Any idea why this is happening?
I am afraid that my site will go to the sandbox :(

Get out of my niche! Lol just kidding. It might be a competitor trying to hurt rankings. Might want to get to building some good on and off page content.

Just continue building quality links. If you do so, these spammy links won't harm your site.

Are those 600 links from the same domain?

Hard to tell since it's a new site unless it's already ranking and someone is trying to knock it down. Like Get said, keep building quality links because there's nothing you can do about it and they may end up helping you.

How can I be a competition to anyone when I only have my site for such a short time?
I know I am ranking 5 for 2 of my keywords. I am a beginner but working hard on my site.
I thought hard competition means only to work hard. I did work hard. The rest is left to Googles mercy

they are devided between 3 sites. One is above 213 links

It's most likely a competitor trying to de-rank you... Every time you move up for a term you ruffle someone else's feathers. So just be mindful of that. SEO is a cut throat game.

It is getting kind of spooky bit for me. I was trying to build a web 2.0 content just 2 hours ago. I just received a comment on my money site from someone using my web 2.0 address in his/her comments link.

This is so weird it is almost funny!

Is there a way for me to know who is trying to do that?

Pages get linked to one another on some sites, guess what, you found 3 of these sites.
Perfectly normal,no ones doing anything to your site.
You commented on the site and with page interlinking this is how it appears.

Be warned when the original page gets archived you lose the links.

Even if they are trying to sandbox you, I am a believer that Google won't discredit links forever and in the end they will only help you. Negative SEO does exist but it's not as simple as running a spammy xrumer blast and de-indexing your competition.

You should be able to get their IP address at the very least within Wordpress and see where they're coming from. That would be a start.

I have the IP and I know it originates from Texas. Most likely, they are using a proxy.

I agree, to eradicate the spam, you should bring links from quality sites. This is the only ways, since most of the spam links can't be removed, unless you're a hacker and get access to the accounts of the sites from where the links are built.

This is true. Of course you should always have a fairly good foundation of quality links anyway.

Don't worry too much about it. Just keep doing what you normally do in terms of seo. Has your rankings even fallen from this suddenly hike in backlinks?

Hey mate, don't let it bother you. Just do what you'd do anyways and enjoy the backlinks you're getting for free.

This sounds like a case of xrumer use by your competition to eliminate you. Luckily, they don't realize that these spammy backlinks will only help you in the long run. Google may penalize you for the link velocity, forcing you into the sandbox.

I spent the past 2 months, building my site and reading the forum. I probably had only 40 links max. My PR is 0.
I guess it won't go lower anyway!
