Anonymous is upset at Sony for supporting the SOPA act, and is threatening to shut down its network again. The hacker group also threatened Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian, and Taylor Swift.

Here is the full text of their threat:

"Hello, SONY.
We are Anonymous.

It has come to the attention of the Anonymous activist community that you have chosen to stand by the Stop Online Piracy Act. This act will halt online businesses and restrict access to many sites for many users. Supporting SOPA is like trying to throw an entire company from off a bridge. Your support to the act is a signed death warrant to SONY Company and Associates. Therefore, yet again, we have decided to destroy your network. We will dismantle your phantom from the internet. Prepare to be extinguished. Justice will be swift, and it will be for the people, whether some like it or not. Sony, you have been warned.

To those doubting our powers. We've infiltrated the servers of Bank of America, The United States Department of Defense, The United Nations, and Lockheed Martin. In one day.

For their approval to SOPA, we have also declared that our fury be brought upon the following persons. Justin Bieber. Lady Gaga. Kim Kardashian. and Taylor Swift.

Operation Blackout, engaged.
Operation Mayhem, engaged.
Operation LulzXmas, engaged.

We are Anonymous.
We are Legion.
We do not forgive.
We do not forget.
Supporters of SOPA, you should've expected us."

See I knew Live was the way to go. :D

Anonymous has lost it. They sound like a bunch of kids now. They should hire a copywriter to write them a new video that does not sound like a 10 year old made it.

Also DDosing and attacking is not the best policy against something like this. Reddit has it right with all the boycotts and moving domains out of godaddy etc. These morons on the other hand will only show congress how rogue the internet is and make them take more measures to stop such attacks in the future and do more censorship. Then media will pick this up and spin it.

They should spend their time educating the public instead. Tell people that their favorite sites might get shut down as a result.

instead of using the WARGAMES voice...couldn't have use something deeper & more evil like?
watch when these kids get busted...LULZ
50,000 year prison sentence

Hahaha yea they should get someone to write their threat copy:)

Seriously though considering Sony obviously spent a long time securing against the original compromise, will be interesting to see how this pans out.

Personally, I'm completely for this. Fuck Sony, their playstations and overpriced tv's. I'm not sure of the reasoning behind supporting SOPA. It's bad business right now to support it. Sony has three minor music interests that are supporting this act so it's not like the company as a whole is really for it but Anonymous is attacking PSN it sounds like.

It's taking a very different stand as compared to the boycotts. I personally will be joining the GoDaddy boycott in the next few days when I get the time to transfer all my domains. I have like 70-80 with GoDaddy so that'll help the cause. i just feel like something like this, while it's definitely not the ideal way to go about it, WILL send a message to those thinking of standing by it.

I haven't followed it too closely but if PSN gets hit you can bet Microsoft won't be taking a stance for it (if they haven't already sided?).

Gotta feel sorry for Sony, they seem to have had hundreds of setbacks this year. :p

Anonymous sure does sound like a bunch of kids but I'm not doubting their ability.

That is quite the long and detailed post for someone who really doesn't have a clue about any of this. Have you never heard of Sony Pictures Entertainment? Maybe do a bit of research about them, and about SOPA and see why a large corporation in their industry would support it.

I am interested why you PERSONALLY are opposed to SOPA. How exactly will it directly affect you? You seem so disgusted by anyone willing to support it, so I am quite interested.

And neither Microsoft nor Sony are afraid of getting DDoS'd. If it happens, they will deal with it. They are fully prepared and have factored in negative backlash before they made their decision. They don't even really 100% agree with SOPA, but these companies feel SOMETHING needs to be done for their industry to survive and remain profitable and keep hundreds of thousands of people employed.

If someone came up with a BETTER idea that will give more power to punish pirates, I am sure they are all ears. But of course, we wont do that because we all love pirating movies and music. If there was a method to COMPLETELY wipe out Piracy of Movies and Music, and had NO other negative effects, would you guys be ok with them supporting it?

I dont have an opinion on it either way, because nobody has told me why I personally should be super concerned about it. I think the world would be just fine whether it passes or not. We adapt to change. If they will block the acceptance of credit cards, we move to bitcoins etc.

So go on everyone, tell me why I personally should oppose SOPA and how it will directly affect me that I can't overcome? I am genuinely interested in this. Sell me on it.

Kickflip well said mate;)

The anti SOPA people want everyone to believe a person could spend up to 5 years in prison for doing a cover of a song and uploading to youtube.

Hi Kickflip, no selling here.

If there was a way to 100% stop piracy without any negative consequences, I would support it. I've downloaded a lot of movies and a lot of music - but I wouldn't mind paying for it. If the price is right and it is easily accessible (which for the most part, it already is) then I would just buy the stuff.

The only problem is, right now - it's all easy to get for *free*. So, yeah.. you won't see me paying for it until that changes.

Thus, I can see a reason for wanting to stop piracy. It makes sense. If someone was stealing from me, I would want to stop it too.

Something interesting to note, below. I have not personally verified it, but the guy here seems to be stating all of his facts here publicly. Given the context of his evidence, it actually would be very hard to verify most of what he is saying, to determine if it is true or not. Without further delay, please see:

Lastly, from what I've read on some of these "STOP SOPA" websites is that the bill itself will not only have the power to stop piracy by taking down websites and so on. It will also, apparently, give the power to the Government/entertainment industries to take down 'other' websites completely.

Anyway, like I said - this wasn't to 'sell' you because I don't know too much about it. I've watched the video above, I've watched other videos, I've read forums and I've read some of these "Stop SOPA" websites. That's about as far as my knowledge goes - but from what I've read, it seems like something should be done about it.

That's all from me for now!

I appreciate your effort, but that post contained absolutely no information about how I personally will be hurt by SOPA, except to say, "other" websites MAY be taken down.

Kick flip I think your right this does not directly effect most people but the problem with bills like this is they open the the door for other more restrictive bills. Also unless you've read the entire bill you should refrain from commenting and that goes for everyone.

I was looking at beatpicks its one of the music licensing companies and usually non commercial projects like a family video on youtube, wouldn't require a fee They just want to be credited. I really have a hard time believing that any of the other music licensing companies are going to charge $2500 for a non commercial use and would land someone in prison as a felon. I'm going to have to look further for it though.

So, in the same logic, because I won't personally be hurt by kid labor, I should advocate the exploitation of children in third world countries? I should not speak out against it?

Nice try :D

They compromised Stratfor the other day. Tens of thousands of emails, passwords, credit card numbers...some of the subscribers are people in the US Defense Department, State Department among others...

SONY bytes and deserves Anonymous after their root-kit fiasco. May SONY and the backers of SOPA rot in hell together!

What do they achieve by stealing the info of people that just want to play some video games?
