Single Father Raising a 2 Year Alone Needs Help

I have a cousin of mine who has been begging me for the past 2 years to show him the ropes and get him into online marketing. Hes about 28 years old and a single father and he just lost his job which has to be hard. I really want to help him out.

I have been stuck on my methods for so long I lost touch with all the new stuff out there and I'm unsure what would be a great start for someone looking for something that can turn into his daily long term job. I do not want him doing what I do because its something that takes years to build up and I think its best that he has something that offers a faster return. (All good things take time but im talking about a few years here and he does not have a year to wait to start seeing money)

Does anyone have any ideas for a method or Something he can do? One thing I did teach him was just because something is small doesn't mean you cannot scale it.

Help would be greatly appreciated. Every time I speak with him its scary how fast he learns and I owe him this.

If he has lost his job the first thing he needs to do is get some cash flow coming in. I lost my sweet research assistant job after a tornado decimated my town. Not sure what the job market is like where he is but if it is anything like my neck of the woods he is gonna have a long fight to find a decent job. Actually, my frustration is what led me into this line of work. First thing is first though. He seriously needs some cash flow. A good way to start getting your feet wet is to write articles for other people. That was how I eased into keyword research and basic seo. Also, once you get the hang of it, those articles are easy to just burn through and you make a pretty decent wage doing it. That would be one of the best ways to get the capital required to start this line of work and still be bringing in a respectable amount of money. After that, just have him read the forum. If he learns as quick as you say then he should absorb this information pretty rapidly. Plus, he will have his veteran cousin to help him out with any other questions :-P

Also, you should make sure to teach him not to go after every shiny new method there is. You have been doing it right. Find something that works and really dedicate yourself to perfecting your approach and execution. I wasted soooooo many months trying a variety of methods for like a week and then abandoning it for the next one. I am pretty confident that almost any approach in this forum can make a person money....so long as they put in the effort and adapt the method to fit their niche. Adaptation is key. When he reads a post about a method he should not try to implement it exactly as it is described. Rather, think of these methods like a theory. Understand why that method worked in that situation and then figure out how to adapt it and turn it into a slightly used but still new approach.

Thanks I appreciate your help. I never thought there was any money to made writing articles but I never took a solid look at it. Any other advice you have would be very helpful.

I feel bad for him because he just lost his job a week ago and he has a 2 year old girl that he is raising alone. I feel like it would be a great Christstmas gift to sit him down and go here; This is what you do to so you can take care of your family.
 
faster return?

If you want faster returns, then they won't be long term and if you want long term, then they can't be fast returns.

The best is to choose a niche, build up a blog, put adsense and start SEO on it.
Then start expanding it.

That must be the best choice for every newbie, but it does takes time to get returns and needs a little money to invest.
 
Microworkers can bring some cash (very limited but it is easy start up cash) and the fastest methods I know are social networks + cpa. Twitter traffic. Generally he can spam the hell out of twitter with retweets with links to cpa offers. Get tweet attacks free version and start adding followers. Doing it manually is pain in the ass but he must save cash for tweet attacks pro and his own domains. Article writing as sixalarm said is good. But he must save all the cash for automation tools and domains.

oh man there is some money to be made in writing articles. I easily pull in like 16-20 an hour when I write, and I write for about a penny a word. I havent been doing it much lately cause my other ventures have really started to take off. So, I am not sure about the best places to write for at the moment. Most of the mills that paid pretty well got bitch slapped by panda so they arent really hiring. The places that have the most stable work are the sites that act as intermediaries between customers and writers. The Content Authority is the site I used to write for the most. Takes a little while to move up the ranks but its pretty worth it because the articles are just so damn easy to write. Plus, they emphasize keywords and KW density so its a good place to get familiar with all that jazz. There are a bunch of sites like that just gotta browse the various writers forums. They are usually good about sharing leads and helping others out. If it turns out he likes the article side of things he could always find a bunch of private clients and outsource the article writing. Just proofread them and bring them up to quality before sending them to the customer.

If you read what I wrote I clearly said for what I do it takes a few years to make things stable. He just lost his job and he has a kid. He needs something that will not take 12 months to see green.

very good method probably one of the best methods shared here.
He can also do yahoo answers and spam some wiki pages with his affiliate links. Doing it manually is tedious work and he must buy softwares with the first money he makes. I made my first money with yahoo answers answering manually to questions. The key is persistance and not giving a a fuck about bans.
 
The first step should be making sure he is actively looking for a new job and not holding out on the promise of being sucessful at IM. He has a 2 year old to support and should only be looking into doing IM in his spare time until he starts making good money.

That being said, put him into something stable and not just "methods". Article writing, a blog on a topic he likes, MNS's... etc.
 
develop him a blog or purchase him a domain name and let him start working on it..in mean time; let him grap a diploma on web development, there is a straight way key to success :)
 
Hes been looking for a new job every day. I am also looking. This would be a great option though. Even if its just some side cash.
 
If he is looking for fast money, I'd recommend Fiverr. Try doing testimonials. But not just sitting infront of the camera and talking. Do something crazy, people love it. If you have some SEO tools, rent it to him and do some gigs based on that on Fiverr.
 
He could start by writing quality articles if he has a good understanding of English. And as well as doing that he can be re-investing some money back into micro niche sites. Eventually he will be able to break free from article writing and just do micro niches...

As well as that he could do video testimonials on Fiverr (Which come in less, but still consistently)

This should keep him afloat and give him long term prosperity
 
Best bet would be Fiverr at the beginning I believe.
If he reads around BHW a little, I'm sure he'll think of some gigs to put up there and the sales should start coming. I know a lot of people don't like Fiverr but that's the beauty of it, if you satisfy a customer good enough you can add him/her to skype and then get a long term client. If you have like 10-20 clients who constantly give you work + get orders on Fiverr, it should be good enough to support yourself and a child.
And the best part would be obviously you can take a day off almost whenever you want.
 
I'm expecting this is real and not some idea to take advantage of.

I would say create some good or crazy gig on fiverr. I will buy the first gig, give a good review and tweet it.

Its not much but its a start.

Tell him to get into CPA and promote their offers..
Tell him to build blog. SEO it and earn and in the mean time tell him to check fiverr ( every penny adds)
Also tell him to check freelance and odesk, may be he could do something which people wants.
And ya show him this forum too... There are hundreds of method which he can work with.
Also dont tell him to give and keep finding a job, that will be a relief if he get one.
