Which is the best social networking platform?

Hi,

I wanted some information on social networking sites and the available CMS which can be used on them. I know that Social engine is one of the options... But just wanted to know what are the other available options and which of them is best if we want a website like Twitter.

I still prefer SE4, especially with the modules, and I have spent a lot of time and $$$ figuring out how to optimize it for the quickest speed. Really you can't beat it unless you have something custom coded IMO but a lot of guys like PHPfox.

They got active community and great plugin..

Not sure if the developer/community is still active though.

Thanks for the replies guys. However we finally decided to use our own home made cms due to the huge list of modifications that were needed.

Its always good to use a custom one as it stands you out from the crowd and make yours unique from million others using the same thing. Good luck with your choice.
