hey all!

why so serious? because i want to buy a lot of domains. im from europe.
now my questions (mainly to the hardcore domainers ofc):

- what is the way to go to get like 1000+ domains?
- what company can be trusted enuff to buy that many domains with? with that kind of amount might there gonna be problems if ur from europe?
- is there a way ICANN or whatever can just take em away from me?
- shud i get a registrar myself maybe? whats the price for that?

any information u cud pass on me wud be great!

I'm not a big time domain owner but I can answer some of your questions.

I would recommend namecheap for the job and I would tell you to stay the hell away from go daddy.

Not unless you put fake information on the domain. If you want more detailed information visit ICANN site.

It would be a good idea, plus you will get cheaper prices for top quality service. I would tell you to go with one of the big boys(enom for example). Enom has a good reseller program, but it will be a little expensive to start up(you have to pay a ~1500 setup fee or load 6k on your account). But hey, if you can afford 1k domains, you will need more than 6k on the enom account so...

Btw, may I ask what do plan to do with 1k domain names?

there are other ways to get a reseller account with enom i got one a long time back with from a hosting company... the hosting company isnt in business now but i still have the enom reseller account...

what i really like about enom is that you have weeks and weeks to renew your domain unlike with godaddy who will take it completely away from you after its expired in a matter of days...

I am not sure about thousands but I have hundreds hosted at namecheap with no problem

mydomain is fine to own the domains but as for hosting it seems that hostgator gets the nod. What are you planning to do with them? That would be a good start.

im planning to a) do some serious blackhat domain parking and b) sell a few or more in 1-2 years. i was lookin thru the auctions and hell, every shitty 2 word domain goes for $60 min.. so i thought its really fuckin time to buy loads of domains because its a very nice investment

most of my domains are with name.c0m atm, i was not sure if namecheap or name.c0m can be trusted with that kind of amount. ill seriously look into enom, thanks.

Go Daddy always pisses me off. I do buy through one of the resellers called

www.fxdomains.com

.... They do sometimes price slightly higher but, the site is incredibly easier to use than GoDaddy.

I wouldn't go blowing your money like that though Maybe you know much more than what appears but from your post it looks like your in need of a much more detailed business plan than mass purchase + roll dice = see what happens. Also with the expanding domain extension market the value of a ".com" is going down. So don't get over excited.

every stupid 2 keyword domain goes for $60 min, and there are shitloads of good ones left to register. and if u reg a thousand domains, there will be lets say 10 that go for $2000+? those are my plain calculations lol, for me they seem pretty damn straight, are they not?

its got to be that simple imho and i cant believe the .com market can go down

There really isn't much science to it. Just grab a keyword tool, find a niche that is massive and put 2 of those keywords together.

Btw, I'm thinking on doing a similar strategy my self, except I have no money to start; which takes me to a warning for you. DON'T go and shell out all your money. Buy, say 50 domains on big niches and see your success ratio with those, then rinse and repeat.

PD: Don't forget to park them somewhere ^^.

You are right s0phia . The newer domains still can not compare to the old dot coms when it comes to rankings .

This will not even change even if they release domains . dotcoms will still have priority . The others will be considered a second level type domain and will essentially still be worth only a few dollars .

Yeah, no point in buying 1000 domains in one shot. Try experimenting a bit. It might not be as easy as you think to sell those domains, especially if they're not even pulling any traffic.

Im the opposite, had well over 1k domains most are 8-13 Year old .com and the renewal fees are a killer, so every day im letting 20 or so of them just drop.

I have a suggestion. Try an approach where you can't (unless you get banned ofcourse) loose money. Buy, say, a 100 domains and do the usual parking, then, do whatever you intended to do to get bh traffic. Now, you have traffic and you have domains. Now you can go to a lot of forums and try to sell the domains. If they don't sell, well... no worries, they are still making money, aren't they? Just get 10us/year on every domain and they pay for themselves(which is less than 3 cents a day). Oh, and save the good domains for 1 or 2 years, so you can say they are somehow aged later down the road.

Oh, and if you can get a hold to some LLL or LLLL...

I have over 400 domains with namecheap. They are my favorite registrar by far. GDaddy is just annoying, they always call me a few days after every order and their control panels are just weird.

Whoever said that the dot coms are going down, that's not true. They are priced less now, yes, because of the economy. Dot coms will NEVER be replaced and as the good domains out there start to dwindle down, they will be worth more and more.

I would suggest not investing in a thousand or more domains until you've got the hang of what you're doing. Start off with 250 or 300 and test some different methods, see what works and what doesn't.
