Need advice on getting Windows Vps

Not that am a new, I've here for a while but most of the terms here have sounded like gibberish to me, don't blame me just blame where am from and basically my career and education, nothing related to computer and internet but you guys have really helped me learn a lot and i intend making money from it but right now am being faced with a lot of restriction from my internet provider really not there fault but most websites have my country blacklisted.

So what i want from you is some basic information and advice concerning a vps, not large at all just for opening restricted websites cos it comes with an I.p and maybe run 1 or 2 small program one of which will be IOpus iMacros V6.90 and another bot yet to decide which.

Have tried buying some and on their configuration page i see something like Dns config needed, i might be wrong but what about Hostname: server1(.yourdomain.com) and Root Password:, i keep seeing that but don't what to fill in, cos am new to the term VPS as a whole, urgent help needed.

NB: I plan to install on 2 laptops one windows 7 and other windows xp.

Host name is largely irrelevant as you will be connecting using the server's IP address. I'm not sure about the hosts you've looked at, but some have an option to "not choose a domain", the others probably don't care what you enter.

As far as connecting goes, with both XP and 7, it's just a case of loading remote desktop connection from your start menu.

In those fields you can just put "test". You will use and IP to connect to the VPS and not a domain name.

yes why not, could try that out since am starting out and could use it as a knowledge base and wrap my head around vps and there usage.

126MB is nothing. You need atleast 512MB ram for startup, otherwise you will see serious performance issues. Also make sure you get a Hyper-V based VPS since they are more stable in our case customers running vps's without a reboot for straigt 6-7 months.

Brother I use proxpn its free and fast. if you want the paid version its even better but free is good enough for your needs. Hopefully I helped at least a little. I also have a script you can load on ur server to make your own.. but I think proxpn is the correct choice for your needs.

I'm trying out their gold plan. But something weird during the setup is they gave me access and I went in within minutes only to find someone already in my account. I got booted twice and then my password didn't work. Very strange as they claim to know nothing about it and in fact couldn't get in themselves so they had to wipe and start over again. So now I'm waiting on it to start again. I will be evaluating these guys and a couple of more to see differences. I'll share here if you feel it worth it.

Todor, thanks so much, I really appreciate your suggestion, i guess that is what i really needed...but there are some more question I have and you should pplease understand that am a Noob still.

Here is what I want to ask,

which vps should I purchase, I see there are two major optionN Zen and OpenVZ, I don't even know what they mean.

can u explain what they mean and tell me which one I should buy, 1hen purchasing on the companies site in operating system, most of them don't have vps that have windows 2008 server or 2003 installed in them, because all i see are other O.S like Ubuntu and Fedora which i don't know how it works.

Yes the OS is windows 2008 and it would be pre-installed from the provider.. Take a look on their site, mate..
