It's an inner page and it's the highest ranking page on my site (it's actually #4 at the moment), so I figured I'd focus on getting this one to the top so I can make some money to invest in the other keywords/pages.

After investing well over $1,000 dollars in the past 3 months in backlinks and SEO services, I've finally made it to #5 (and #20 for the other 2 keywords). I've only made $12.00 in the past month. I REALLY need to get some keywords to #1 so I can make some of that back.

This keyword is 2 words long, 22,000 searches a month. The competition is pretty poorly optimized for this particular keyword. My site's been fluctuating for around 2 weeks between #4 and #5 in Google.

I have the on-page optimized really well (according to Website Auditor), but I made sure I didn't just blindly follow the instructions to the point that the site became less attractive to users.

keep doing what you did you get to #5, lol

Buy some homepage links.

My homepage has quite a few links on it, it's one of the pages at #20 right now.

Haha, I've been trying, but it hasn't moved up in almost 2 weeks now. Since I've gotten to the first page it's been moving up really slow.

Build more quality high PR blog comment links.

How many links have you built to the inner pages of your sites? Building High PR Links (such as Forum Profiles and things like that) on your inner pages, will help rank the inner pages higher, but also rank the Homepage higher as well...

Do you have nice on-page SEO?

It happens, that it will stick to the position for some time. I had one site, which wasn't moving from #3 to #1. No matter how many links I built to it. But in 1-1.5 months it moved directly to #1.

My suggestion is to build more links. You will surely have backlink types which you haven't used yet. Build as many quality links as you can and you will see boost soon.

whats homepage links? :)

Links on a homepage. haha. You buy links from a site that will feature a link to your site. I think what he means is to throw some different types of links at your site. Diversify me dear

Try building Link Pyramid and ask someone to do scrapebox/xrumer blast on those links for you...

Keyword research is critical, so I would make sure that it's a keyword that people search for when in a buying mode. Depending on the competition, I may just run a short Adwords campaign.

- try to add more content (at least 1000 words long)
- Buy some social bookmarks
- buy some blog posts
- you win

I've seen quite a few of my competitor's with these links, I've always wondered what they were called, now I can get some. :D

Continue doing what you are doing. The higher up the rankings you go, the longer it takes and the harder it is.

One thing to think about though is the keywords you are targeting. You should be getting quite a few sales at #5 if the keywords are correct, especially for a search term with a monthly search volume of 22k per month. As a general rule, #1 will get roughly half the search traffic and the percentage of search traffic roughly goes down evenly to #10 which receives about 3% of the search traffic. You should therefore be receiving a high volume of traffic already, and if your site is reasonable, a high number of sales (certainly more than $12!)

Perhaps modify your meta description to improve CTRs and think about the position of your call to actions, their colour etc. to improve conversions

Like Bombarulz said, if you really want to SEO your website, even for higher competition keywords, you really need to build a pyramid of links and scrapebox/xrumer the links.. However, you have to make it look natural, diversify the anchor text, don't blast too many links at once, or else you can get sandboxed by google.
