Prosper202 minimum hosting?

Anyone making this work with decent tracking results WITHOUT the $50/mth Beyondhosting that they recommend (that doesn't even have CPanel)? Which hosting, and how much a month are you getting by on? I don't have the traffic that necessitates higher-end dedicated VPS hosting, and I doubt I will for many months, if ever. Thanks.

I've run Prosper for PPC on $10-20 virtual accounts with no problems. However, since you are handling all your money traffic through one script, it's generally better to over-host than to skimp. If the script bogs down because your get a surge in traffic, your income immediately drops to zero. I definitely wouldn't host it at a host that is known for being shitty about resource usage.

I have all my tracking scripts (including Prosper) on a couple of VPS.
I have multiple installs of the scripts and spread my campaigns among them. When one script or server breaks for whatever reason I don't lose all my (converting) traffic.

Unless you know how to admin a VPS, then you're probably best just getting a bigger shared hosting package.

Like a website resides on one server with many many clients.

When you have the need for bigger resources, you get shared hosting which limits the amount of people you have on that server. Like you'll maybe have 5 people on the same server as you. So then you can utilize more resources.
It's more 'dedicated' I suppose.

rowebil explained the "bigger shared hosting" well. Pretty much all this means is less clients on the box and you have access to larger resources.
A lot of hosting companies call this "virutal dedicated", as it's like a VPS but they still admin the server. (No need to worry about OS, kernals, etc).

In regards to AWS (Amazon), they do have a free package, but again you have to set everything up.


If you are still interested in getting your own VPS, I would suggest that you get a cheap one (under $5) and then play with it for a week... Learn how to use terminal/ssh, learn how everything works, and then buy a better VPS and switch everything over for production. (There's nothing worse than having your tracking server go down).

Yeah but, what about the fact that this network can see all of your data? The greatest thing about prosper is not that it just free, you keep your traffic stats locked down.

AtomTrack is self-hosted so your traffic stats are still locked down. My friend..

I used BlueHost when I was sending less traffic (early days) and later moved to Beyond Hosting!
