I am giving up I.M and this is why

Well I have been in internet marketing for 6 years and more seriously for 2 years now, according to me, the points you quoted make the challenge even more attractive.

I hate things when it is too easy, i like challenges and facing problems / changes are exciting when you solve them.

Having a sustenable revenue from IM is hard and it is a struggle everyday until your big day come !

I wish you good luck in your new ventures, but try to see those 10 years in a positive way. Very rare are the people who can set up a project from scratch and monetize it ;)

You can do what you wish but from a guy who has managed brick and mortar businesses and also operates a family biz that is no different from what you are describing online.

talk about daily challenges and issues? Yesterday we ran out of lettuce it was so busy, we were short staffed and our supplier was running about 3 hours late. 2 days before for some reason our plumbing backed up meaning we had to stop operation for a couple of hours till the plumber could come out and fix it.
Produce cost vary every week, sometimes daily so our profits get cut into almost all the time, 3 months ago we did some price changing and had to spend the next 2 weeks explaining to our regulars why we raised our prices in this economy.

we had to terminate an employee 4 days ago, a new competitor opened up 6 months ago down the road.

My point is we all have to make adjustments and changes based on what we foresee and we also have to react to things you do not.

Maybe you are spread too thin, why dont you select the thing that is easiest for you and gives you some revenue and just scale up instead of trying to do 100 different things.

LOL..yeah "horses for courses I guess."

I think with so much scamming on the Net going on i have become jaded from doing bizz here any more. And it's not just individuals. Many "companies" push the boundaries because it's the Net.

Thanks any way and good luck to you.

yes I agree.....but like I said you have to chose your busienss carefully and roll with it. But what I can take any more is being at G's or Facebooks beck and call.

yeah and about 1,000+ newbies coming in.... I doubt I was ever competition as well :-)

One less competition.

see it's posts like this and my own experiences that have drove me away....I feel like it's a bizz built on quicksand. Why? Because G or some othe big player has ALL the control. Heck I even got banend from Adwords although I paused al lmy advertsing 4 months before they banned me...and that was afte I kept asknig what was wrong with my sites for Adwords..no rpely just banned me 4 months later. Enough is enough. They are easier ways!

Part of my problem has been dabbling in "different strems of income" I now know for me it's best stick to one.

I am not sure what your skill in social marketing is like, but one of the 1st posts I ever read on this forum was by a guy who says he HATES relying on search engines. Just like you he can be page 1 on Monday and page 10 on Tuesday, he says he does optimize for search engines but he focuses hard core on Social media, based on his assertions once the customer base is yours, they are yours and no search engine can take that away.

Granted that is a slower approach, building fans and followers to such a level that they can sustain your business but it is also a long term solution that will never fade as long as you stay moderately active.

but i will concentrate my efforts elsewhere. I.M. is not for me and will not create the biz I want. .it's not like I am going to sit and watch "Judge Jusy" all day long and vegetate. :-)

Thanks

LOL...i've been here about 11 + years i think I am a litlte more "realistic" than that.

I am not saying it isn't for everyone at all. It's just time for me to change tack.

Do you still have offline companies you do SEO for? Why dont you outsource the SEO and share the profit?

some-one said..and I can't remember where I read it but I do agree 100% now.

"the more control you have on your business..that happier you will be"

But when you are relying on G, facebook, Youtube + others..you are giving away control.

Best to own Ebay than be a seller there for sure! Same everywhere you have to be the source.

I am not dabbling in several ventures again.....I am burning my bridges with all but a couple of 99% auo cash flows...I need to focus.

SEO is maybe dying but IM isn't, just have to find new ways or if you can offer Im people tools to buy from you although that needs programming skills or to outsource it.

Funny thing. Some time ago, I thought I will quit IM. So I did. Or at least I thought so.
I quit all the niche blogging, CPA and other things that require a lot of work and time.
I came up with idea, that I could make website with only user-submitted content, as web developer it was just for fun, had to brainstorm something new, unseen. I don't want to create another twitter right? So I knew what to do, and I did it.
Website grew really fast without any SEO, huge numbers of visitors each day, just because of it's interesting content. So I placed few ads, and started to earn good money. So I guess I'm still in IM :)
Most people quit because they can't brainstorm new ideas, or they are just too lazy and don't have motivation to do it.
Why to do something I'm not shure about, If I can do "default" methods which I can learn from all these forums.

Just think outside the box. You can earn with everything.

I know what you mean about SEO and google... its a royal pain in the ass, thats why I'm all adult and social aswell now... fuck trying to please google all day long and throwing money down the drain, I'll happily leave that to the people who specialise in it.

Keep on trucking bro, but remember there's plenty of areas inside IM, you can make money without google.

Well, you know, this is the same thing for most businesses. They have clients that are ever changing and there are laws and policies that constantly change too.

Markets change. The internet changes. You can never control every aspect of your business. You will drive yourself crazy looking for an income stream that will provide that kind of stability. I understand where you're coming from though. I just don't think that the stability you're looking for exists online or offline.
