Replica selelr in Manchester just got raided

Oh he had North Face jackets, Aftershaves, perfumes, bags, wallets..usual B.H. stuff.

BlackHat doesn't mean we all dabble in or sell replicas.

I used to see the guys selling counterfeit stuff in a famous market in Glasgow. There is so much money to be made by these people that its just a mere inconvienance to these criminals and they will be back up and earning straight away

There was another similar raid in Edinburgh too reported earlier in the week.

Can't help but think of what time of year it is and why these reports are coming out now.

Lesson: Don't sell replicas in and around Christmas time lol.

Seems replicas are just like Santa Claus. :) Didn't know the UK was so strict on that activity.

yeah ..not saying all BHers do but read the recent posts about "football shirts dropshipped" I wonder if these "mules" realize they are replicas? And there is a LOT of it going in in the D.S section. I'd say about 90% of it.

looks like they are trying to clamp down on it... Maybe for every one caught 20 get away but you want to play those odds?

Didn't know the UK was so strict on that activity.

What's crazy? The seller or getting raided?

that's all great but what about all the Governmants shady arms and drug dealing to find their bank ACCOUNTS? One law for the masses another for the "prviliged"
I added this post to remind people selling replica stuff is high grade BH stuff with serious consequences.

You even see ads on TV about replicas funding terroism etc and how the government is on it looking to stop the trade.

"All goods will be auctioned off to help charity"

-.- wtf

Surely by auctioning off the goods, the Government is perpetrating exactly the same crime that this man has been imprisoned for. I doubt that is going to happen.

I always thought standard procedure was to keep it in the police's evidence locker until after the case is over and done with, and will then be destroyed (preferred method being incineration I believe).

They used to sell off the assets of criminals in Scotland in what were called "Sheriff Sales" to recoup the some of the costs of bringing the trial, but they were outlawed decades ago.

I'm not a government supporter! The UK government across the board, whether Labour or the Cons are all pants! My point in bringing the government into the discussion was to point out how high profile the government are making this!

Me? Lord the government of this country! :D

In Canada we auction off unclaimed items from criminals/evidence lockers. Its not really uncommon at all. The only thing that is bizarre in this case is because it is replica items which are illegal to sell. It would be like confiscating drugs and selling them.

Mostly just stolen merchandise which goes unclaimed for a certain period of time gets auctioned off and the proceeds go to the city.

Yeah, I know its common in many jurisdictions, and it's a good ploy really, I don't fully understand why they stopped it here (or there I mean, since I've now left the country) since it helps reduce the criminal justice bill, this requires some investigation.

EDIT: Turns out they were only used in civil cases if you couldn't pay debt, they auctioned off their possessions. They were outlawed because it was felt they targeted the poorest in society, those who really couldn't afford to pay the debts. Now I don't believe there is any real penalty in Scots law for not paying, they can't take your stuff to sell, they cant jail you (except for court fines and taxes). All they can do is keep suing you and ordering you to pay lol. A slightly different issue to what I originally thought.

Long Live Justice :P
