i added you on skype but i dont know maybe you didnt get my request :O?

There's something that's stopping me from trying this method:

If those small companies don't have the expertise to set up a website (i.e. hosting + domain name), how will they be able to put content on their site? I think the only people that can be tricked into this are owners very small shops. For example the bath shop around my corner is run by a lady who probably doesn't even know how to turn on a computer, I don't see her putting content on her website. Do you think local dentists/doctors could fall for this? 50 bucks a month for a website is pretty much for them I reckon. Also, I don't really see what content a dentist would put on his website...

Secondly, did you only talk to them by mail? I think many potential customers first want to see your face before they trust you. Which brings me to my actual question: how do you finalize a contract? So how can your customer be sure that you will do what you say? Do you send them a copy of your identity card or what? I've always wondered about that....

Or even better! when you crape your leads from the Yellow pages, you might wanna outsource some cold calling to get to know the Name of the Person who is in charge.

This way your direct mailing wont be thrown away like spam.
Second, using the person his name is way more converting than using a general: Dear sir/madam. Tagline. ;)

Just my 2cent.
Btw, going to implement this methode ASAP! ;)

Thanks for this. But sometimes i get some "picky" customer that want modified themes etc. How do u handle with this kind of customer? How much do u charge regarding modified themes? Thanks

Worst if you don't know how to modify it :D...I don't :P

Good intentions, but as 7878 and another member said, this has been rehashed many times. Bottom line, offer free shit as a selling point, and upsell on hosting/SEO/whatever. Also, if you don't know what you're doing, you're going to face some shitty customers that aren't satisfied with your work. Cover your ass with a contract and make sure you uphold your end on that contract.

If you're offering only minimal support like you mentioned in your OP, you're bound to have some unhappy customers. If any of you are thinking of trying this under your company name, don't do it. I only see an ending that results in a shit ton of bad reviews. Good workable method (just like the last four or fiver similar ones), but cover your ass.

I'd rather charge per website. You'll get less customers, but it's more to weed out the cheapasses that want shit for free. Those people are harder to upsell IMO.

What about the content in the website? Do you write your self or as customer desires?

My twist regarding my personal experience:
1) Open yellow pages
2)Write down 100 business adresses in 100 evelopes (or outsource it with a kid in your area, i give it to the guy that are in charge of the copy machine in my college on morning and i have my 100 evelopes at evening, dentists and doctors converts the better).
3)Write a sales latter and get 100 copies.
4)Blast your letters in your local mailbox and watch the money rolling, direct mail converts like ipad offers to college guys ;)

Better yet, just use manta. You'll have access to every business in the US and Canada.

I highly doubt this would work, as anyone with a internet connection knows that $49/mo. is expensive for web hosting, even if they are getting a fan page and such.

You need to offer them a lot more then what they can get for $3/mo from another host.

ummm, ur giving them hosting, a domain, a wordpress website, couple seo plug-ins, and a fan page, a lot of things people don't know how to do, nor have time to carry through with...I'm sure a doctor doesn't have time to get on his facebook account to let people know how shit's going.

you said you didnt marketing... but your thread is full of word FREE

actualy i was thinking in a smart way and easy way to get some serious clients in my area and you told me everything i need ehehe

this is perfect to get a lot of clients without doing a shit lol... and after that they will need more and more like advertising and seo and i will be there to do that for a decent $

well done mate. thanks a lot for the tips :)

What would you guys say is the best way to sell these services though? There's a million and one twists that can be applied or a million methods on here but in order to get the product out there on an offline business what do you guys think would be best? I'm interested in Direct Mail but very sceptical about the conversion rate, does anyone have any experience in this? REAL EXPERIENCE? I mainly cold call using the wix method, from about 20 hours cold calling I'll usually get around 6-8 conversions, I FUCKING HATE CALLING! Help!

at least youre taking action, more than most can say... but if you dont like cold calling why dont you hire someone off craigslist or odesk to do the appointment setting for you and all you have to do is the meet and close?

Thanks for the reply. I'm also from Europe (Belgium) so hopefully it's the same for me :)
I'm still wondering how you contact those doctors? By mail? Or do you make an appointment to meet them?
Also, what services do you offer them? SEO too? Because I don't have the tools (backlink blacksters) to do that... I am a last year Master of Computer Science student so it probably shouldn't be too hard to get their confidence.
Also, I'm still wondering how you close a contract :)

Would it make sense to make like 3-5 templates and tell em, you can pick one and if they want something else, send em packing or try and do an upsell on them?

I can think of a few twists in my local area, but I would have to adjust the pricing for some of them. Hmmmm

If i were to do this method, this is exactly what id do. Thing is you would need to target small business, and then sell it as a cheap, simple all-in-one solution for them to have their own website.

Part of my pitch would actually be something along the lines of "...why spend hundreds, possibly thousands on web development, when you can pay one small monthly fee for our website packages..."

This is actually a nice, real simple way for someone to earn some money...
