What is my site worth? Official thread!

Thanks.
I had the domain from Jun2009 but only started the site late Jun2010.

Traffic sources for October:

google (organic) 72.57%
(direct) ((none)) 15.67%
yahoo (organic) 5.92%
bing (organic) 3.02%
search (organic) 0.32%

So I can realistic expect something like $600-$1200 from this site?
Where do you think it's best to put it on sale?

Price sounds about right. I'd start with the adult webmaster forums (GFY etc.) and if you don't have any luck there, go to some of the more mainstream marketplaces (other than Flippa, most accept adult sites).

Thanks. Will try and see how it goes.

Hey guys,

So I have a micro niche site, I'll post some of the stats below. Ranking for 4 keywords:

Keyword 1 - 1600 exact match searches - $1.23 CPC - #3
Keyword 2 - 600 exact match searches - $1.39 CPC - #7
Keyword 3 - 500 exact match searches - $1.35 CPC - #8
Keyword 4 - 720 exact match searches - $1.92 CPC - #13

Most of the traffic is obviously coming from keyword 1.

Site is 2 months old, has 6 articles on it.

September Earnings: $14.00 (site first started earning hear end of September)
October Earnings: $55.00
November Earnings (so far): $21.00

CTR is around 10%
Around 450 visits per month, 840 page views

What do you guys think? Thanks in advance everyone (especially Meathead, since he'll probably be the first to respond :p)

2) PR0
3) PR5
4) PR4
5) PR4
6) PR3

Waiting for response.

Thanks

Not much at this stage. Probably ~$600-$1k if you put it on Flippa. I'd work on getting it more consistent and then sell it.

Can't really help unless we know how much it makes. $20 based on the above info.

Depends on the domains, but as sites themselves they aren't worth much. The PR might have some value to someone, but as empty sites you're not going to find a good buyer. You'll have to rely on someone wanting to buy the domains as they are. In terms of site value, PR has little correlation to the value.

Thanks meathead for the response, well, could you please tell me that what will be its value if I create a design and upload it. It will be like a blog and I will add 1 or 2 articles also.

If just adding a site design does not increase too much of its worth then whats the best to do?

Looking at selling my main site, would like a rough estimate as to what i could get for it.

Traffic: SEO (targeting 46 keywords, 25 are in the top 10 with the main keyword no.1)
Site Age: Just over a year - PR 4
Content: All unique
Monthly Visitors: 3500 - 4500 unique
Monthly Revenue: Adsense, $500 a month and increasing

Not sure if theres anything else to add. Im still doing SEO on it so hopefully the monthly revenue will increase before i do sell it. CPC is around $4 for this niche so fairly high.

Looks like you've got a pretty decent site there (that's refreshing :)).

Depending on the niche, as well as how much manual interference is required (do you publish new content all the time?) you're looking at getting somewhere between 12-18x average monthly revenue (6 months average). Adsense sites are always in demand, especially if they're passive. One thing to bear in mind is that majority of buyers valuate sites based on average revenue, rather than the last month's revenue, so if you do manage to get some higher rankings and increase your numbers considerably it makes sense to hold on to the site for a few months before selling.

Thanks for the reply.

I was planning to wait until January/Feb time, for that exact reason (so the average for the last 6 months would be at least $500) Its been increasing steadily month on month, and i think the real peak for this niche is summer time, so its looking good.

I'm still 50/50 as to if i will sell it or not, but its something i'm looking into.

Site doesn't really require much work, its been nearly 4 months since i last published something, although i did publish 1 article a few days ago, but this could easily be outsourced.

You say 12-18x the average monthly revenue, so would the x18 be based on how little work needs to be done?

EDIT: bryanon do you still only sell websites that are making $1000+?

That's great. And yep - few articles every now and then isn't an issue - especially if you can give the buyer the contacts of some freelancers or are willing to provide content that isn't yet publish so that they can drip-feed it.

Generally speaking, you can expect to get an 18x multiple for an Adsense site that is virtually passive, has a decent earnings history (1 year+) and isn't in a dodgy niche.

Mostly yes but you're always welcome to get in touch as there are some exceptions to this rule.

Great, thanks alot for your help. Ill look you up in the new year and take things from there.

hey meathead,

i also got another site if u wuld be so kind to have a look:

movie /entertainment niche
domain age 8 years
UV 5000 per day

earnings over 3 month average: (only been monetized for past 3 months)
1600$ (toolbar installs)
1000$ (signups)

what do you reckon m8?

I have one , arount 3 months old , 6k + High PR backlinks , Top on google with some keywords and getting orders too . Its SEO Services site and PR5 . URL

I have a MNS with a buying keyword as domain. The EMD has 390 exact searches but the primary keyword that I targeted has 2900 exact searches.

For both keywords, the site is number 2 in Google. I'm also targeting the keyword with 5,400 exact US searches and it's now 16th in Google.

Site has more than 10 articles. Google webmasters tools found 2,942 links. Site is PR2. The site is about half a year old.

I initially tried to promote an Amazon product because the keywords are for an Amazon product. But then I had to stop because my wife just gave birth. I now switched to Adsense.

Unfortunately, I never earned money from the site. Makes me think I'm doing something wrong. It was my first try at MNS. I'm planning on switching strategies but I just set up a new site so I'm thinking that I should just call it a day for that site.

How much can I get from it? Considering that I never earned money from it but it is PR2 with almost 3k backlinks and has several high-quality articles on the site.

Pretty tough to value on just "potential". Put some Adsense up for a month and see how much you make then come back to me :)

Is the site legal or is it linking to streams etc? That would affect the multiple considerably.

If it's legal, you're probably looking around $30k. If it's streaming, nearer $15k due to the higher risk.

Cheers!

Thankq meathead for taking the time out to answer

:)

p.s. if i was wanting to sell could you help ....for % obviously.

Probably not much more than a few hundred dollars if it's not making any money.

These sites can be tough to shift, but we'd certainly take a look at it for you.

Cheers!
