how to find a random 4 digit domain?

it does not matter what the number is as long as its no more than 4 digits.

how do I find if there are still 4 digit number domains available ??

I can try searching from 0000 to 9999 but I dont have all day.

You can paste up to 500 at godaddy to check if available (copy paste)

Yeah you're best bet is to write a small script (I did so in Python) to generate 500 random, 4 digit numbers and use GoDaddy bulk checker. I just did this, none were available...
There 10^4 possibilities, it would take a very long time to check each one...

All NNNN and LLLL com/net/org domains have been taken for 5+ years now. You'll have to find parked domains and contact the owner to make an offer.

Ok here is what I am currently doing. However do your own research as this is not yet complete for me.

Can cost around $21 and I'm not sure if it works 100%

Go to godaddy > auctions

select the parameters you want i.e characters exactly = 4

then only select "N" for all of the dropdown to give you numbers only.

+ choose any other aprameters you want.

However, I bought one the other day and it does not actually instantly transfer to your account even if you click buy it now. I did a bit of research/emailed godaddy and here is what they said.

If the domain name you purchased was an Expired Name Auction, the domain will automatically transfer to your account within 2 weeks as long as the current registrant does not renew the domain. The scheduled date of transfer will be listed in the Won area of your GoDaddy Auctions membership account in the Status field.

However, if the domain was listed by another GoDaddy Auctions member, the domain does not transfer automatically. You will need to use the ‘Email Seller' link in your GoDaddy Auctions account to contact the seller and work out the transfer of the domain name. The link to email the seller will not be available until the 6th day after payment as we have a 5 day verification period of the funds. If the seller does not provide the domain name, you will need to file a dispute per section 4. of the Domain Name Aftermarket Membership Agreement:

To file a dispute, You must submit an email to [email protected]. The email must include:

Your account number
name and contact information
the order number associated with the transaction
the domain name over which the dispute arises and
a detailed account of the dispute.
Such email must be received within fifteen (15) days from the sale date.

So just make sure you do your own research if you go with what I have said because I am not 100% sure of the process myself but thought I would try and help you anyway.

As BreakAllTheClocks says, the last of the 4 digit .com domains were bought up a few years ago. Most of the random ones were bought by domain speculators that promote them as very valuable do to 4 letter .com domains not being available anymore. Most of them ask ridiculous prices for them.

There can definitely be uses for them, but the hype the domain speculators give regarding their value is bullshit. Very rarely would it be worth picking one up for the prices being demanded for them. If it's just a random 4 letters that you want then really it doesn't matter if it's a .com anyway, just use any .tld and it should work just as well for you.

I did find this domainer right now though "dyyo.com", they say they're auctioning their 4 digit dot coms on ebay with no reserve 99 cent auctions. If they're still doing it maybe you can get lucky and find one no one else bids on.

Personally I'd say unless it's an established domain with some real value, then an unused four digit domain isn't worth any more than what the standard registrar price is for the particular tld. In other words if the domain name doesn't have value for more than simply being a four digit domain, then don't consider it of any great value just because 4 digit domains are rare now.

However, I have found some for sale by owners they were pretty high, but some were around 5K ..
