Without understanding what your weaknesses are, you will have a really hard time trying to fix them. So, I wanted to put this thread up for people to talk about the things that give them difficulties in this business. I'll start. These are the things that seem to be causing me trouble.
-Addiction to microworkers. - Often when I could be doing IM things, I instead keep doing work on microworkers. It feels like having a night doing IM stuff where I end up with a big fat 0 on whatever affiliate/ad network is a waste of time, especially when I can usually get 2-5$ a day through microworkers. I know the time I spend on IM is an investment, and will ultimately pay off larger in the end. I just have to switch my thinking around. In the past month I've made close to 160$ on microworkers, where IM has provided me with about 0.15$.
-Girlfriend. - She knows that I work a LOT. If I'm not at work, commuting back and forth from work, I'm usually working on microworkers, my personal blog, or trying to learn more about IM. However she's confronted me a few times about wanting to spend time with me when I am not working on a laptop. So there is a strain between working to make money, and spending time with her.
-Time constraints - I work as an engineer at a fortune 500 company, which pays quite well (before taxes and bill/loan payments). The downside is it is a 2.5 hour commute each way, on top of 9 hour work days. So, I'm looking at 14 hour days, every day of the week. Part of that time is spent on a train, so I can get some work done there, however I am limited in things I can work with (can't really do adult uploads or video editing on a rush hour train!)
-Lack of knowledge - I'll face it, while I know a fair bit about html, css, and making websites, I have no practical knowledge. Only book knowledge. I seem to have a huge issue with taking book learning and turning it into practical application. Give me a test on html and I will do awesome. Tell me to design a website and I will end up looking at you with a blank stare.
-Lack of initiative. This is my biggest problem I think, and it kind of sucks seeing it written here in front of me. I come up with tons of ideas, I just suck at putting them into practice. I get excited, i start working on it, and after a few days it kind of falls flat.
