I have been doing seo for over a year now and I have literally put my whole life on the line to succeed in IM. I have failed huge once and learned from those mistakes and starting to make some money finally. But, I am far from where I want to go. I work everyday all day and I give it my all.

The last few weeks I have seem to be in a slump or something as I feel my productivity has dropped. How do you guys keep the productivity up and how do you assess what you have done and where you are going? I need some encouragement from some of the guys that have gotten to where they want to go. I think I may be hard on myself at times but I feel that has pushed me to get where I am now.

Should I be further along? I see growth but I do not know if I am being too hard on myself. I cannot sleep most nights and my life is consumed around trying to get to where I want to go. At times I feel frustrated with myself as I feel like I should be further along. Please tell me I am not alone haha. It is hard when no one really understands except for maybe those who have been in the same situation as me. I have lost many friends who would put me down and did not believe in me. I want so much but I feel like I am not making huge steps.

At no means have I ever thought of giving up because that is not me, but I feel like I need some sort of direction or guidance or to know that I am not alone in feeling this way. Any help guys?

Thanks so much.

Dan

I know how you feel buddy. I've been there. Honestly, the answer to your question is right in front of you. You said:

Why not scale up what you're doing? Obviously it's working if you're making some money.

I want so much but I feel like I am not making huge steps.

Good things generally come with time and dedication. I've felt the same many times, but then I realized, no one ended up on this forum and started making $10k a month in a matter of days. They started small, and worked their way up to where they are now.

At first, it was discouraging to see other BHW members claiming to make $xx,xxx figures a month, while I was making nothing. But I slowly conditioned myself to turn that discouragement, into motivation.

Don't give up man. Keep at it. Trust me.

One word:

Outsource

This as well. I found myself building links like a chump and losing hope. I outsource all of my link building now (except some manual blog commenting I do occasionally), and not only am I seeing GREAT results, I feel a lot better and am making way more progress.

dont put all of you in your work , u have to put something in yourself ...
free your spirtit, take a joga class or something like that - that will help (its important how you feel inside -> it will reflect outside; your work)
Give yourself "little" tasks , that way when you accomplish that "little" goals go for biger ones ...
have a nice day

Thanks man, those really are some good words to hear. I have just started outsourcing and I haven't seen the results of it yet, but I am hoping to to see some soon. I too think that I get discouraged when I feel like everyone else is making big money. I know nothing in life comes quick and I do not expect anything without putting in hard work.

The feeling of not going anywhere when you are working hard, seems to be getting to me. I guess that is when you know you need to make some changes.

Thanks again :)

You just have to balance your time and have fun. Invest in high quality lists, scraping your own can be challenging.

Outsourcing works, it may be difficult to find yourself people who actually know what they are doing but finding the right people will pay off. Train them to do the tasks correctly.

Don't expect them to login your VPS and setup the campaigns for you without proper training. All the tools are worthless without skills.

If you find that you need training yourself, the best teacher is trial and error.

Hey Dan,

Just a week back I was feeling exactly like you, until it struck me that you need to enjoy the journey, rather than thinking about reaching the destination all the time. Once you start enjoying what you are doing by taking it a bit easy on yourself, you won't worry about not earning xx,xxx all the time and your mind will have the creative freedom and space it needs to come up with solutions to make that happen.

Also, don't forget there's the whole world out there! Get out of the house, do other activities you like, meet friends/people once or twice a week. Take mini vacations once in a while and spend more time with your loved ones. You aren't in an IM race, unless you owe a lot of money to a lot of people! Living as much of a balanced life you can and taking time off will only make your journey to the riches enjoyable and sustainable!

Life is so short. Don't take it so seriously! I've learned this the hard way!

And here's something really cool. I know a lot of people don't like him, but then he has made much much more money than any of us! Check it out: http://www.bobparsons.me/bp_16_rules.php?ci=21453

Thanks man I really appreciate it. And I think you are right, I am not enjoying the process. I mean I love what I do, but I get so caught up with the "success" aspect of it. I feel like I am in a race but I am only racing myself, always coming in last haha. This is a good quote , "The temptation to quit will be greatest just before you are about to succeed."

Thanks again :)

You are welcome.

Haha. I like Bob Parsons. Watch the videos on his website. Some of them are real gems. I am sure even though he gets a lot of new customers and upsells from his videos, that's not the only reason why he does them. You can tell he enjoys doing what he does!

Btw, try to find out the reason why you are getting so desperate about earning a lot of money. I guarantee you it will turn out to be really silly and you'll see that you can achieve happiness even with very little money. It's usually our own inner turmoils and desires that keep us from being happy!

At the end of the day we are all looking for certain experiences, and fortunately you don't need to own expensive things or have a lot of money to experience something. Simply rent things for a while or find cheaper alternative/solutions! ;)

Lots of money as a side effect from IM is a bonus and always nice to have! After all you need something to aim at ;)

I'll leave you with these wise words from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air a.k.a Will Smith.. "Too many people spend money they haven't earned, to buy things they don't want, to impress people they don't like." :)

Thanks for that. It actually did help. Song reminded me of Iron Maiden, especially the beginning. Brought me back :)

Shut off your computer and just give up. You fucking suck, nobody likes you. You're a loser. Stop acting like a rockstar, you ain't shit. You ain't ever gonna be shit.....Still wanna do IM for a living? Then you got it, make it HAPPEN. I suggest you read some BTB and Pofecker threads to boost ya confidence.

Okay there Coach Carter. Wtf kind of encouragement is that?

Reverse encouragement I guess. Make the guy angry at himself so he unfreezes and starts to prove something to someone.
Success isn't about motivation. Those who suсceeded do not read other motivational speaches, don't look at themselves in the mirror.
They just have that special spring in their ass that keeps them going. Always believing in themselves and what they do.

IMO success in it's popular form is overrated. It's mostly networking, building connections and exploiting other people (building a team).

I'd recommend
1. Set long term goals and short term (small goals). Always look for the big picture.
2. Make a chart for short term goals. Stick to it. When you reach each small goal, don't be afraid/be ashamed to celebrate these small achievements.

I think the thing that keeps me going is knowing some day I'll be able to get where I want to be. I'd be a helluva lot more miserable if I just succombed and felt like I had to work for someone else forever. That's just not me. Once you stop fighting, you've failed.

Shut off your computer and just give up.
WOW! Thanks for the vote of confidence! Nice to know that we here on BHW can rely on you to kick someone when they're down!

You fucking suck, nobody likes you.
Do you even know this person personally? If not, then how in the world can you hate on someone you don't know?

You?re a loser...
See my response above regarding kicking someone when they're down!

Stop acting like a rockstar...
Funny how you associate being a 'rock star' to someone needing encouragement!

"...you ain't shit..."
Look who is calling the kettle black!

You ain?t ever gonna be shit...
Do you have a crystal ball? Can you see into the future? If so, I'd suggest getting your own 1-800 number and start advertising on late-night TV because I think you would do a lot better then "Miss Cleo!"

Still wanna do IM for a living?
No...I'm sure the OP is now so stricken with dissapointment after reading your post, that they're going to just give up and say 'the hell with it' and go get a 9-to-5 J.O.B....NOT!

"...Then you got it..."
Got what...Milk?

"...I suggest you read some BTB and Pofecker threads to boost ya confidence...
"reading" doesn't always equal 'confidence'...hence, maybe that's why OP started this thread?

FWIW...Guess no one ever encouraged you to continue trying to exceed at anything in life and you were just SO FORTUNATE to NEVER need a hand, or a quick kick in the ass to get you going in the right direction!

WHOOPI-DEE...Lucky you!

I swear?it amazes me how many times people on this board go out of their way to show just how pitiful their lives are when they go out of their way to kick someone when they're down...and do it to someone they don't even know!

You must understand in your heart that having some personal fun and recreation is not a liability, it 's an asset.

The human body and mind is a complex machine. You have to keep it in good shape, so that it can give you the BEST results.

Pushing too hard does not mean better results. Relax, enjoy and you will prosper. I know how hard is to relax when you have a lot to risk, but you must force yourself to become stable emotionally. Then, you will be able to create ideas and turn them into hard cash.

Everything is a ladder. Once you accept that, there 's no more amazement. ;)

I 'm feeling Zen tonight :D
