I saw this post over on the digitalpoint forums. Some deuche bag was asking for a loan and it seemed like people might actually give him one. LMAO:D

Check it out here.

Did you guys actually think I was asking for a loan? :D

I didn't think anything as I don't check the dp forums often.

While it may appear pathetic to ask for a loan on a forum, I also don't see how it's worthwhile to ridicule someone who finds themselves in such a very difficult position that they have to have to ask.

Just my .02,

Fuckin you had me there...

I came in here to help.

I have loaned over $1000 this year to members of forums.
I have never been screwed but $250 wasn't supposed
to be paid back. None is lost when it's genuine.

I agree. If they are being genuine, it's probably their last hope. Probably humiliating to ask also. If they are genuinely needing help, hopefully they will get it. For some people nowadays, it's really tough. Some people don't have anyone, like family.

I have loaned over $1000 this year to members of forums.

Same here, one $1000 to a moderator of one major IM forum. He'd helped me quite a lot, but was disorganised with his finances and his only computer hd crashed. He's agreed to mentor me on some of his areas of expertise when I need it. That's good enough for me. He's getting his shit together too.

For another guy, his water and electricity was about to be shut off. He was a very well-respected member of a certain forum who did his best to help others when he could. He not only had his own kids at home for whom to care, but was hosting a few children of a wayward neighbor AND his elderly inlaws as well. He got himself into a jam and, in my opinion, deserved the break I could easily afford. More than good enough for me. He's supporting himself well now. Can't ask for more than that.

Again, I don't see what benefit exists in the ridicule of others who may find themselves in a very difficult position.

Best,
Sine

The ridicule stems from the people who take advantage of other people. I am sure you know that already but that is one of the main reasons I have been leaving a lot of forums. It makes me sick.

A forum pulled me out of a serious jam a few years ago. I didnt know any of them.

I am sorry if anyone took it that I was ridiculing someone. I only posted this because it seemed like it might not be genuine. I was only ridiculing the post beacause I felt like it might be a scam. That's just my opinion and I am hoping that I am wrong.

I know there are alot of scammers out there and was only bringing to light something that might not be genuine. If this person is genuine than the more power to them and I hope someone helps them.

I have just seen alot of scams played on people during the holiday season and was pointing out at how some people may fall pray to that.

I hope this situation is not a scam but I tend to be skeptical.

Of course I'm often wrong, but this did look a great deal like "ridicule". Did I miss something?

Edit: I'm assuming by "deuche bag" you meant "douche bag".

Trump,
It's quite true that scams proliferate during the holidays, especially on forums. And it's hard to discern the scams from those in real need.

I find that my first gut reaction points me in the right direction most of the time.

In NYC, where I live, there is no shortage of sob stories, so one must steel oneself to give where one wishes to give. It's not an easy decision, most of the time.

Hope this helps,
Sine

I was ridiculing the poster because I feel that they are trying to scam people. However, If I am wrong and they are not a scammer then I apologize. I would never make fun of someone who needs help. I will make fun of someone who is a scammer. I have been down on my luck before and know all to well how bad it feels to ask someone for help.

However, my initial gut feeling senses scam. I hope that I am wrong though.
