Like the title says. I wonder if there are way get around the high cost.

What do you mean keep the renew cost low? It should be the same every time you renew. I use resell.biz

For example at godaddy I can find discount coupon codes by searching on G, which reduce the renewal full price to $7-8$ (-25%).

But most registrar charge double or more for renew domain name.
Ex:I pay $10 renew cost $20 to $40

If you pay $20-40 on renew you have the world's crappiest registrar.
Transfer to Namecheap!

Actually I am on namecheap now. I am trying to register new domain with like 5 years. But the price become few times more.

How many domains do you have with namecheap? If you have more than 50 you get renewal codes.

GoDaddy has the cheapest domain name by using proper coupon codes. You can usually get $7.49 for renewal.

Thanks all for respond my question.
I escalate the question to their live support.
It is all make sense now.
The domain extension that I am trying to register is .me now they doing promotion it cost $7+. But regular cost $20.

It is the first time I register for .me. Never thought it would be more expensive than .com

If you're up to managing names @ different registrars, one way to save sometimes is to transfer from registrar x to registrar y a few weeks before they expire. You can save money, sometimes get free privacy, and having registrar diversity with your names is nice gravy.

Yep, pretty much all international TLDs are pricy, registars always try and sucker people into the really cheap deals they always run ($x for 1 year, $xx for 2+ years) to squeeze more money out of them once the year passes and they find the love the domain - same thing happens all the time (I remember when infos were cheap and people purchased in bulk from GoDaddy only to have the price go back to normal and them all balking at the cost ).

I also don't really trust International shady TLDs that much - what if they change their rules and decide to revoke all domains? Ka-put goes your SEO.

To get wholesale prices you have to own around 1000 or be making $xxx/month from parking them with the hosting company.

Cheapest if you have a couple domains is to stick with Godaddy and search for their promos. Cheapest I've seen lately is $7.49/year
