ClickBank got me down

Only yesterday I made my first website and popped a clickbank product on it, buried under some lovely review-style literary gloss and optimised the hell out of the page. I put Adsense on the top of the page and it looks pretty good. Nothing special, but enough information to keep it from looking spammy and not enough to satisfy people's needs and prevent them from clicking on.

It's had two visits so far (both me, I was all excited at work and thought I'd have another look at last night's handywork). I made it with a HTML template (side question - what's so good about wordpress over HTML sites..?) and for about a day it was my baby.

But now I'm all down. I KNOW nobody's going to see the page until it ranks, which it won't because I chose a stupidly popular niche that nobody ever searches, and I KNOW Rome wasn't built in a day, but I just don't see how this site's ever going to make me any money.

I need a success story from someone. Anyone?

I would recommend searching Google for people talking about the product you're trying to sell and posting your review link where ever you can.

What did you do to optimize the site? Have you done anything off-site to optimize it? Promoting it with any social networks or creating backlinks, joining forums, that kind of thing?

As for the Wordpress advantage, people like it because there are billions of themes for it and it's easy to add plugins to give extra functionality. It's also easier to create new pages and blog posts than it is by just using regular HTML pages.

Ha, love the link. I don't mind how long the road is, I just need to know there's a pot of gold an the end of the tunnel. Light at the end of the Rainbow. A new album after the 8 year hiatus. Etc.

I've used EKW in the title, it's in the URL too, I've put it in the description to attract humans even though Google doesn't tend to read it, I've peppered the content with the keyword and put it in a few alt and H1 tags. The whole site (all 3 pages of it...) has an seomoz page grade of A for the KW so I'm happy with it. Thing is, there's a hell of a lot of competition and little demand so any off page work would be lots of work for little yield. For that reason, I've set up Google alerts to target the keyword but that's not working too well.

Thanks for that, I've had the tab for that post pinned to my browser for about a week! It was actually that post which made me get a CB account. I think what I did wrong was to only use one product, so I just searched CB for similar products and am going to review them along with the other one.

About this method - do you think there's any use in adding Adsense to the pages too? And is that $100 a day an exaggeration or do you think that even a noob could really make that sort of money fairly early on?

You are already having the wrong mindset that's all. Don't EVER get caught up in any one aspect of this game.

Did you know that you could do something that clickbank doesn't like and you could lose your account?

Did you know that google could decide to delist your site REGARDLESS of content backlinks or whatever and you would lose that?

Did you know that your competitors can screw your adsense up soo fast and you will be up the creek without a paddle?

You can NEVER base your online business on any ONE aspect. This is a VERY volatile business, so you are going to need multiple affiliate accounts, multiple websites, and multiple hosting accounts.

If you do not set yourself up with a WIDE diverse portfolio, and are relying on any ONE aspect you are doomed from day one.

I know I know this person that person, but the day will come when it ends, so from the very start you need to know that you may try 100 things or 1000 things before you make your money.

But the question is have you given up before you started or have you made up your mind that no matter what happens you will NEVER quit?

I know it sucks, but trust me if you spend enough time around here before you know it you will be busy and the money will come one way or another.

I like the idea of Youtube and forums. Targeted traffic is worth a hell of a lot more than random traffic. Now that I've had my curry I'm going to spend a couple of hours hunting for traffic and see what that brings.

Just build link pushes like there no tomorrow and you will be ranking in a matter of weeks if exact match keyword is something around 10-15k search monthly don't forget to make sure the pushes get indexed and you are using proxies etc etc just the general tips to be safe
