Overkill permalink structure?

Sup everyone

So I have a new site, it's an EMD + 1 word. So let's say my keyword is "dog toys".

My domain is dogtoysinfo.com

I'm going to have about 15 general articles about dog toys. Would it be overkill if my permalink was like this?

dogtoysinfo.com/dog-toys/types-of-dog-toys

What do you guys think?

Personally i don't think it makes much difference but i would leave it at just /%postname%/

Thanks guys! I had already done catergory/postname, but good thing the posts haven't been indexed yet. I think I'll be changing them to just /%postname%/.

I use categories that repeat my keyword from my domain just like you were originally going to put and have had no problem getting indexed, traffic, and people to move on to my squeeze page from my blog networks.

I would go with your original thought and use categories. After all a keyword is a kw!!
You just need to mix it up and do variables e.g. puppy-toys, pitbull-toys, small-dog-toys, and my favorite... labrador-toys.

I would assume if it's too obvious Google may consider it "keyword stuffing" esque.. Permalinks are something the site owner can and do control so I think Google would penalize for something like that rather than building shitty backlinks because your competitors can do that to you. I hope you see what I'm saying.

Overall, I wouldn't do it.

Agreed. Only time I use /%category%/%postname%/ is if I have a broad site covering many areas of one topic (I.E. Dogs -> Dog Toys, Dog Homes, Dog Training, Dog Health). Since your domain is already pretty specific I don't think overkill is necessary.
