"Tools" for getting motivated

Hey guys,

Im thinking at putting a table on my desk with motivational pictures and texts. Right now I want to make a stable income from adsense and ive thinked at a modified fake picture adsense account with 35E (because that means 1000E per month and, for the moment, thats my goal). I will put the picture on the table. And then I will add a picture with porsche carrera because its my favorite car.

What do you think about that? Its good to achive the goals (i think yes, after i watched "The Secret" documentary movie).

Everyone is different and gets motivated in different ways, so if that motivates you then go for it.

Well, for a start you can try to focus on things that would make you happy like a Porsche, in your case, or for personal growth and not on pictures with money because money should represent a way to achieve your goals (nice car, nice house, travels, whatever) and not a purpose. Being obsessed with money it's not a way to live your life and you will end up being owned by the money and not the other way around. Focus on the things that are on the top of Abraham's Maslow pyramid.

People usually do a whole lot more to avoid pain than to achieve pleasure. I think about how I won't be able to support my family, how I won't get the time to spend with my future kids. This is more than enough to give me a little kick to get off my bum and do some work. Works better than imagining a porsche!

Good post here. It's hard to stay motivated sometimes. Any help counts.

I clean, change my room around, get new desktop image etc. I'm def a fan of having a goal board. Pictures of things you want by the end of the year etc. You'd be SURPRISED at how often these things will become true.

Watch "the secret". Stuff works.

But, I'm kinda in the same boat right now haha, I have a new "authority blog" going and I need like 100's of articles, and I can't find the motivation haha. Sometimes you just need some time too..

Two things:

1. Pictures of what you want. As real and vivid as possible - they should take you there to look at them.
2. A small paragraph/blurb that reminds you want you want and don't want. Everything that REALLY motivates you to make things happen. Could be just a few words, e.g. "Wage slave, Jeff (boss) sucks, Jamaica, hot tub". Put it where you'll see it all the time.

Someone once said "Discipline is remembering what you want."

Also, it's not a tool, but it's something I was thinking about last night while writing some articles. You have to leave your emotions out of what you are doing, that goes for more than IM.

An emotion is a STRONG LIKE or STRONG DISLIKE.

The thought "I don't like doing articles" is emotional.
The thought "I love to do articles soo much fun, I love my life" is emotional.

Now, it may be ok to leave the "like" part in there, but I'm not sure, because everything is relative. If you REALLY like something, perhaps it amplifies the things we don't like?

Anyhow, leave emotions out of it, and just do it!

I haven't yet tried to put this into action, maybe today lol.

I just remind myself that if I don't succeed at this, I'll be like my other friends who will have to work 9-5's once we all graduate from college. I never want to do that. Life's too short.

I also have a picture of NYC as my wallpaper. I look at it everyday. Why? It's my dream to live there. And IM can get me there. I know it.

The plan is to make enough money that taxes will not be an issue. I mean, I'll have to pay taxes anywhere I live. So why not pay them somewhere that I'd enjoy to live?
