Result-based SEO service?

Not sure if this is the best place for it...

I'm wondering what you guys think of an SEO service (backlinks, etc.) that instead of giving a list of web2, SB lists, forum profiles, etc. simply guarantees an increase in SERPS?

I'm still not sure how it could be set up (half money up front? refunds? trust issues on both sides?), just wondering if there would be any interest in that.

I don't have anything to offer now, so please don't PM me, I'm just thinking aloud - something that was going through my mind.

Most professional SEO services out there dont provide backlink reports.

They simply guarantee increase in serps

OK, thanks for that, the only "professional" service I've used a few years back is when they almost took me to cleaners

It's good to know it's out there, I thought I was on a crazy mind trip...

I was thinking of doing something like that on a small scale, using a mix of techniques I'm familiar with that I know get results.

Ideal situation would be you apply for a free quote, after you check their estimated price list.

And then they check your pr, competition etc and get back to you with an accurate price BUT can you imagine how many people on BHW would be looking for an accurate quote? This forum has got some amount of tyre kickers and dreamers so the simply solution is just "here's our SEO package, price is X ...goodbye!

Yes, I agree, too much variety can be a bad thing! I know it from my physical product website / business, I have to spend a lot of time explaining why there are so many...
Mind you, a decent faq could solve that, not so with the tailor-made SEO services...

I think I'd stick with, say, 3-4 packages with some deeper explanation, e.g. this one is for sites that are no-where to be found, this one for pages 4-5, this to move ahead on page one, etc. Sounds like fun!

The problem could be how to set up the guarantee - one could never guarantee #1 result on g (at least I wouldn't knowing that it may not last) and the refund process in case of non-delivery.

I may check some pro SEO companies how they handle this

Mogul shared a great Tool complete with WP plugin just for that. Cant recall the thread right now, but check the DL section.

The premise is you basically clone a website for whatever service or company it is then contact the owner of the biz and tell him "Hey, I just got your site ranked on the 1st page of google."

Can you explain how this works abit more please?

Also the reason alot of people wouldn't guarantee results is because they're exposed to so much fraud... imagine the amount of guys who'd purposely fuck up their on page SEO, screw up their servers and all sorts just so google doesn't want to rank them... then after they get a refund restore everything and get a huge SERP's boost.... FOR FREE!

na na na.. Nothing is guaranteed.

But some SEO services provide full refund if tthey cannot rank it. Thats like giving a guarantee.
But no one guarantees.

Giving a guarantee is a flat out RETARDED idea and I would NEVER do it. Never. If they want to pay me by rank I'm going to want a TON of cash as incentive... and nobody would want to pay that. People who ask for promises are cheapskates to begin with, something for nothing and I'd avoid wrapping myself up in them. A bad client is worse than no client.

Basically you find a niche with easy to rank emd or close to it, like "Latin restaurants Miami" you create a wordpress blog, do some on Page Seo build a few links to it and you should get to page 1 pretty quick...then you find a spanish restaurant in Miami that has a website on page 2,3 or 4 or worse and copy their content and put it on your "cloned site" finally you contact the company and say, No need to pay for SEO I already have your site ranked on page 1 of google!

Then sell the site to the business for whatever you feel its worth to them.

Only go with a service provider that guarantees top rankings if you're sure you'll get back your money if they don't deliver. Like, if you send over the money via bank wire I can guarantee you'll never get it back.
Also, I think current PP refund / claim period is 45 days so if you're on day #46 and you realize the seo company didn't do anything to your site yet, you're out of luck.

But I'm not even sure there are trustworthy providers out there who will guarantee rankings. Everyone with experience knows that it depends on so many things. Even more in these "chinese bear" times :-/

I like the brainstorming

The main reason for this thread was that I REALLY miss those good old times (my son calls me an "old fogie" by I don't mind) when my word and handshake meant more than a 100 lawyer signed guarantees...

It could be the romantic in me, it could be the booze (viva la Cuba for Bacardi 151!), but I would still want to provide a service like that one day...

I wouldn't guarantee the position, just the movement up, also I'd request a payment up front and refund say 50% if the site doesn't go up within the specified period so that at least I could cover some of my costs if somebody was less than honest.

I've done that in a different industry a few years back and it worked well, so who knows.

why not give a guarantee by asking a certain % of the increase in revenue you generate by increasing the ranking in SERPs.. for a certain period .. say 2 years or so.. or even better; for as long rank (so it becomes a longer term contract)
This should be not to hard for most business to come to some sort of measurement/definition of that. And it's a win-win; the company only pays some of money that you brought in (so no 'cost', just a little less increase in revenue) and the seo guy gets good money for a longer term

With clients who sell directly form their site this is obviously very easy to track, would be a challenge for others I agree.. but should be possible (in a Whitehat world )
