Bounce rate from 70% to 3%?

That would explain my super low bounce rate. I had the analytics code in ultimate ga plugin and then I switched the theme over to ctr theme and added the analytics code in. My "bounce rate" dropped so low it was almost non existent. A few weeks later I cleaned up my plugins and my bounce rate returned. I thought it was just a reporting error but that explains it!

Not really sure as to how any of these things would help your bounce rate. Although I can see how it would keep people on your site longer. Isn't bounce rate determined by how many people click on your site and then immediately leave? None of those things would catch the eye immediately of a visitor.
 
There is no way that you could get your bounce rate that low. It is def a bug. That is pretty ridiculous for those who think otherwise
 
Definitely looks like some sort of anomaly. 3% is extremely low for a bounce rate and far from normal (you'd be hardpressed to find 50%).

You might want to look into those numbers again..
 
Obviously a bug. No real website has a bounce rate of 3 %. That wouldn't even include the people with technical problems... :)

I recently started a new blog that has me in a similar situation. So that would make two of us that are experiencing this "error".

Exactly the same thing I said above. Those who think that 3% bounce rate is possible simple know nothing about SEO.
 
Actually it's pretty simple....all I added was a popup on the same domain.
That dropped the bounce rate from 60% to less than 10%....nothing else was changed, added or subtracted.

yes Reduced bounce rate is extremely good. Which means users show interest in your content and browsing more pages
 
On GA a while back, my bounce rate was over 90%.

A couple of months ago, I looked again and it was much lower.

I think that G gained the ability to follow links to slash through pages using SSL, as most pages linked to from my home page use SSL. As, piwik still showed the high rate.

I could be wrong, and it seems not to apply in your case here, just saying.

Nope, cause I get 1k visits a day still :D

Oh, and it did bounce up to 5% on one day :p
 
I wish I had that error. I directed bought traffic for my site and the bounce rate is around 90%. That was with untargeted (almost all from Ukraine) and geo/niche targeted traffic. After all you only see the referring service domain... nobody could tell if they are not from Ukraine...
 
that;s very good mind sharing the tips on how you reduced the bounce rate? high quality content? embeded video on the page?
