URL shortener to hide my black magic from competition

Hi,

Instead of doing straight plain backlinks to my money site could I use shortened URL w/301 and would that hide it from my competition trying to check my backlinks? Or do you have another method?

buy some .info, 301 them to the money site and blast the hell out of them. This way:
1) you have complete control on your domains
2) should the money site be penalized (i doubt it), you can remove the redirects

You can use 301 redirects for backlinks but be ready that you will loose some link juice by doing that.

I don't think that there are any other ways to hide your backlinks from your competitor. But it's possible that your competitor can find out your shortened url or redirected domain too and he will still be able to see your backlinks.

What I can suggest is build some web 2.0 properties and link any other links to those web 2.0 properties.

and btw don't worry too much about other people checking your backlinks... if I remember well, yahoo site explorer will be shut down within the end of the year, this means a lot of (unexperienced) marketers won't be able to look at your black magic anymore.

Yes, but there is a way to find out the 301s to your site... I had a thread about that few months ago.

OK nice. Actually one of my competitor is kinda into black hat SEO from what I saw and I don't think he will hesitate filling the google spam form. I don't know if this will cause me harm but I don't want to have my site rank well then be sandboxed or whatever.

Maybe I'm being too paranoid.

HarrisonHill I'm not sure why some of the juice would be lost, are there any precise rules on this on is this just a study and some juice was lost and we don't know exactly why?

yes it's true, with 301s you lose some link juice.

OK I think he's not that smart. I just don't want my whole work to be obvious, 301 should be enough.
