Tell me a way to host multiple websites on different C-class IPs

This is one of the most important thing that I still don't get when it come to VPS, C-class ips ... it confuses me ... hope someone on here can shed some lights about this.

why not just get the smallest hosting package from multiple hosts? seems like the cheapest and easiest way to go about this.

cclassiphosting offers $1/c-class IP... seems the best deal so far.

Otherwise many of you suggest signing multiple different hosting plans, but can you imagine looking for and signing up for 200 hosting accounts... it doesn't sound reasonable

Not sure why people suggest dedis to get different C- class IPs. Most dedi providers will send you ips from the same block even if you order them months later.

Price of a decent dedi is $175 a month. Price of a shared host is $5-7 a month. For the price of one dedi you can get 35 shared accounts and know they're on different c-blocks and different geos. Watch WHT for specials (almost daily) and with Black Friday coming up there will be a ton of very cheap offers soon.

Another advantage of shared is your host isn't all from the same IP. Easy for someone to find all your sites when on a dedi by looking up host ip and doing reverse. Can't do that with shared hosts.

Anything less than $3/IP per month is going to be shared with many other sites.

If you are investing in a high quality setup then dedicated IPs are the only way to go, you don't want to spend $1k+ on a domain and then be hosted on the same IP as a porn site.

How much are dedicated IPs? One of the guys stated earlier in the thread that you should have a minimum of 200.

I don't mind if the IP of each of my websites is shared with other websites, as long as it's not shared with those of my network :)

200 blogs = 200 backlinks to your money site. With 200 backlinks you can target low volume keywords for sure but the bigger the number the better keywords you can target. If the OP is thinking 10-20-30 domains then it is waste of time and money. The idea behind blog network is generating fake interest in your content (that is on the money site) so google thinks it is going viral and ranks it high.

This cannot be right, for you to need that many sites im guessing the PR of those domains must like PR0-PR2 and no site-wide homepage links....

One of my competitors runs a PR3 torrent site and he has out ranked me in alot of competitive keywords and yes he only has one link (HP link) and out ranks me for all of them.

An IP address is made up of four octets of numbers a.b.c.d. each octet can only have a value of 0-255 (An octet is a unit of measurement, where one octet = eight bits (In binary, 8 bits will allow you a total of 256, but because we count 0 as a number the highest value is actually 255))

To put it simply, when people suggest hosting your sites on different C-Class IP addresses they mean that the IP address differs at the 'C' Block. So 1.1.1.1 and 1.1.2.1 are different C-Class IP addresses. Whereas 2.2.2.2 and 2.2.2.3 are not.

Equally, if the A or the B class changes then you are on a different C-Class IP address (So 3.3.3.3 and 3.4.3.3 are on different 'B' Classes, also meaning they are on different 'C' Classes. And 4.4.4.4 and 5.4.4.4 differ at the 'A' Class, meaning they are on different B and C Class networks!)

To be perfectly honest. I have no idea whether Google actually takes Address Class into account when calculating SERPs as the internet has been based on CIDR (Classless Inter-Domain Routing) since '93. It does seem like a simple way of stopping spammers building hundreds of sites linking to one site on one dedicated server, considering how most hosts work. But just as people suspect that G performs WHOIS on domains and penalizes links from the same domain owner, what's stopping them from checking who owns the subnet the site is hosted on? After all, You can have a subnet bigger than a C-Class!

Patently false...

I've seen no real information as to why people think google cares at all or how they could even justifiably care, but I think it's at least best practice to host 4-5 blogs/IP and keep it to that range.

Don't use ideastack. A disaster...worse support and service on the planet...

Too late haha. And you are one hundred percent correct. I have never had worse support in my entire life. They do not even speak one word of english

Then why did you mention them, without pointing this out?

Well concerning that this just happened, I don't think that I could go back in time

There is some evidence that unique C-blocks are useful:

But, note this:

The Unique-C-Block importance seems to have decreased since broader adoption of cloud hosting services like Amazon / Google / Azure has taken place. Unique URLs seem to have more influence, than unique C-Class blocks.

Anecdotal data by one of the worst backlink crawlers out there.

SEOmoz claims that one of my sites, with over 10,000 backlinks, 1000+ with PR4 or higher links, has 98 backlinks.

I stand behind that IPs matter little.
Still there are places like skynet hosting out there, which is where I host some of my blog network sites.

No, it's not anecdotal. It's based upon direct measurements of Google frontpages.
You want to look at the correlation data, not the survey (anecdotal) numbers.

'SEOmoz's analysis of 10,271 keyword search results from Google.com (US). The numbers shown are mean Spearman's correlation with higher rankings, meaning that a higher number indicates that websites + pages with the given feature (or more of the given feature, as in cases like "# of links") tended to rank higher on average than those without. Remember - correlation is not causation! Just because pages/sites with a given feature tend to rank higher doesn't necessarily mean that this particular feature is the cause of that higher ranking.'

SEOmoz claims that one of my sites, with over 10,000 backlinks, 1000+ with PR4 or higher links, has 98 backlinks.

You are correct that if they cannot correctly measure the number of linking C-Blocks per page then they cannot correctly measure the spearman correlation.

Yep, run like hell from them. The bad support is the best part of this company.
