It depends 100% on the quality of backlinks going to the domain. If you are buying it for purely linkbuilding purposes then take a look at opensiteexplorer for the quality of the backlinks pointing to it.
Extremely high quality PR4's can go for upwards of $500, where as a shitty PR5 can go for $150. Sophisticated buyers are bidding on the authority of a domain, not the PR alone.

Use http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/ by SEOmoz to determine the quality of the links.
Also, I would recommend you run a scrapebox livelink check to make sure all of the important backlinks still exist, sometimes with a dropped/expiring domain you will see important backlinks being removed.
