So I heard it was easy to do local SEO/google maps/Google Places...From what
  • I've heard it's just having a complete profile including pictures etc...
  • Multiple reviewsfrom different sites, all with the same citation (address).
I've done all of this however my listing still isn't showing up and there is little competition with less information than what I have.

If I go to google maps and search my company it shows up, I've validated the account WTF am I missing?? Has anybody tried backlinking to the places page like standard SEO? Does that work?

There is no real news on whether linking to the places page works but non the less I would just focus building links back to your site and getting more local citations...How many citations have you built?

Also bear in mind that Google claim that places are only updated every four weeks, not on the fly like discovered backlinks are. If it's been less than four weeks hang in there.

I was also wondering the same thing as I'm having problems ranking my GP.

I would suggest to make a simple slideshow video with movie maker, and put it on youtube with your keywords. Then add it to google places. Don't forget to put the location info on the youtube site.

yea sure does.

have you tagged:

videos (youtube)
photos (panoramio)
webcam (to the address)
google earth

citations:
yelp
qype
yahoo local
bing local

(theres about another 50 but i csnt be botherd writing , been up all night :)

remeber evrything has to be the same across all properties,,,address, name, phn number.

From my experience, most of the time, Google Places is a 2-3 month process to actually see your listing compete with others. Obviously the more competition, the longer/harder it will be.
